I also think there will be a full season.  Although this week could be telling to see if ownership comes with an option that doesn't include a hard cap.

I think there's a good chance that they pull off a full season, or near enough to one.  They don't have the favorable situation that the NFL did, but they have the advantage of being able to learn from the last NBA and NHL lockouts.  The optimist in me beleives that they will decide that giving up on some of their demands is worth avoiding the fallout.

If they pull off a full season they're going to be depending on the NBDL extensively.  No training camp.  No preseason.  Does not bode well for conditioning.  Even the guys playing in these pickup games can't simulate conditioning required for an NBA game.

yes, I'm predicting a full season - I don't think the sides are as far apart as they claim and they'll meet in the middle on dollars and come up with some kind of modified soft cap that is "harder" than it is now

This will be interesting to watch if they do get a deal done.  I have a feeling we are going to see some very mediocre basketball for at least the first month or two of the season, and we could see a lot of injuries as well.

Kind of wouldn't mind seeing the season lost, hopefully curb the greed of the ownership.

this quote from today's Grantland article sums it up for me.

Quote
"In the end, this is the lesson of the NBA lockout. A man buys a basketball team as insurance on a real estate project, flips the franchise to a Russian billionaire when he wins the deal, and then — as both parties happily count their winnings — what lesson are we asked to draw? The players are greedy

The pessimist in me believes that the lesson some owners learned from the last NHL lockout is that a lost season won't kill them.

I don't want to see a cancelled season, but I also don't want to see the players simply cave to preserve the season.
