If you take Fisher for his word here, and that's a pretty gray area, doesn't it seem like we're close? The leagues two most hated owners are throwing a hissy fit because they want more money?

After what Fisher did to the Jazz....I wouldn't take his word for anything.
what you mean tell the Jazz he needed to move to a bigger city for his daughters well being and then actually move to a bigger city.  What ****.

Blah Blah Blah.  You're right, Moranis...My bad.  Fisher has always been a paragon of virtue.

To have a sleazeball like Fisher....Somebody who didn't honor his own contract with the Jazz.  Negotiatiating with the owners...How do the owners trust him?

Couldn't have come up with a more apt description of Fisher than the last 3 words of your post.

Fisher and the Jazz mutually agreed to dissolve his contract so he could move to a bigger city - for less money - where his daughter's life-threatening eye cancer could be better treated.  What a classless jerk  ::)

Besides given his level or production in the end the Jazz were better off without paying him that contract. It was a bad deal.

Am I reading this, right? Are you really condemning a man for putting his daughter's life above freaking contracts?!

If it's just cause he happened to end up with the Lakers, just say so. Thing is, you're making your hate for him seem much deeper than that, and quite honestly, I find it disturbing.

The debate about fishers departure from utah to the lakers has been debated to death allready but there are some facts that it seems people have a tendency to forget.

1. Cancer treatment is just as good in utah as it is in california.

"Shot Caller wrote: No one is arguing whether he should or should not move. The argument is that there are other options for medical treatment in Utah which are just as good as there is in LA. It appears (and it may not be the case) that these options were not explored because he bolted for LA IMMEDIATELY. Fans are mad at him because the entire sports world thinks the only cancer treatment facilities are in California because Fisher claims thats the only place to get cancer treatment. This is not the case however and no one else seems to recognize that. Facilities at BYU are just as good. Fans despise him because it appears he bolted for LA (The evil empire) under the guise of his daughters sickness. Like it or not thats how it is"

2. No one knows for sure, weather or not fisher took the time to explore the options for treatment in the Utah area.

There's two conclusions you can draw. 1) he used his daugthers condition as an excuse to get out of utah and back to los angeles well knowing that treatment in the utah area was a posibility. 2) He didnt bother to check for local treatment but bolted back to LA because he knew treatment there was possible and availble.

Eigther way, Fisher aint no saint.. im not saying he used his daughters condition as a excuse all im saying is, he's allways been a douchbag in my book.

You are using a quote from someone named "Shot Caller" to support your point that cancer treatment is as good in Utah as in California?  I've actually read the contrary.

Yeah, from the little I've read, it seems like Children's Hospital Los Angeles is one of the lead hospitals in the world in treating Retinoblastoma.

Only 350 cases of retinoblastoma are diagnosed a year in all of North America.  It isn't your typical cancer and as such there really are only a few facilities in the country that have doctors that regularly treat the disorder.  Children's Hospital in Los Angeles is among the world leaders.  There are also excellent facilities in New York, Austin, Chicago, Ann Arbor, Houston, and a few other places.  The best treatment tends to be at the best universities, like Texas, U. of Illinois Chicago, Michigan, etc.  The facilities in NY and LA are at world renowned hospitals.

So yeah Salt Lake City is fine for treatment of normal cancer, but not so much for retinoblastoma.

Gilbert, Sarver & the rest of the hardliners are being short-sighted.

They need to extract money from their fellow owners, not the players.

Revenue sharing is an option, but I wonder how guys like Buss and Dolan feel about it.  Buss is going to argue he's worked hard to build HIS franchise, and that hard work shouldn't freely flow to teams that are less successful.  I'm not saying I necessarily agree with that stance, but any way you look at the sitauation there is going to be some divide.

Of course. In fact, a robust revenue sharing system would be far more difficult to achieve than wage suppression - that's why they aren't focused on it. Nevertheless, avoiding tough battles, while always tempting, is frequently a bad decision.

I believe that hard work argument is easy to refute but such a step should be unnecessary because this has nothing to do with fairness or correlated concepts. Revenue sharing is indispensable for the long term economic sustainability of the NBA. Appealing to Buss' self-interest makes more sense than appealing to his altruism.

Just happened to end up with the Lakers?  LOL.  Are you kidding?

I wouldn't like him if he'd have ended up on the Celtics.

Other than not honoring his contract with the Jazz....Overtly dirty player.  I've watched his antics on the floor.

Nothing virtuous about this guy at all.

If the decision to leave Utah was made purely for him to care for his child, wouldn't he dissolve his contract and retire? Its not like when your travelling with an NBA team you'll have heaps of time for family anyway. It just seems a bit of a cop out to change clubs just because you're moving due to other means. A lot of players reside in a completely different city to their NBA team.
