He was the only one to beat out Paul and Ray in the 3 point contest this past all star game, and I've seen on this site the thought of having an offense only player. Jones isn't the best defender, but he's not terrible. He would come a lot cheaper than JR Smith or Jamal Crawford, and JJ has flown under the radar after he declined his PO with the Heat. Any thoughts?

Yes. I think the Celts should first target a center because that's our biggest need. But if they have the resources leftover available, then Jones would be a great pick up.

We DESPERATELY need another athletic player that can bank the outside shot.

No minutes .... if Jeff Green returns.

Should J.Green leave, James Jones would be a decent option to take over some or all of those backup wing minutes. I would prefer someone like Mike Dunleavy though. A more talented and well-rounded offensive threat.

depends on the cost but he'd be decent bench filler.

James Jones could easily play SG.

A 6'8 long SF that can hit the 3 should be able to play better defense than Wafer

West, Jones, Green, BBD, JO

And our 1st target should definitely be a starting C like Kwame Brown
Can't stop, Rondo!

I really like that bench lineup. But definitely another center with Kwame and JO

I'd say Jones is far from terrible, I think he's actually a pretty good defender.

As already said, my desire for him would depend on the contract terms.  But I'm definitely interested.

Definitely. If he can be had for somewhere near the vet min for a year, no brainer. But if he is expecting a long term big money contract, Danny should walk away.

Probably wishful thinking.
I doubt us or even the Heat could get him because he's likely to get over valued offers after spending so much time on national TV draining three pointers this year.

Don't get me wrong he's a good bench player but I think he will get some big offers because of his age and impact and exposure.
I'm not saying he's overrated but owners and certain teams will see his name on the market and think the same we are thinking- owners with more money in their cap space as the situation currently stands.

One thing I know is that I don't want him on the Heat or the Lakers because he was ANNOYING hitting all those threes this year against us.

he's probably going to go for more than the vet min on the open market....Grant Hill or Michael Redd are probably more realistic guys we could go after

i think a more viable option would be Sasha Vujacic. pesky defender who can nail the long ball.

I don't like him, I think he is a punk.   I also think he got lucky in the three point contest and caught fire.

Sure, every team could use a James Jones on their bench.  I agree that it depends on cost because Jones can be a fringe rotation player, kind of like a taller Eddie House.
