Can We Bring Back Tony Allen?

Can we trade back Tony Allen? I would love to do a sign and trade BBD for TA if possible. Is there any other possible scenario of TA returning? Would you like to see him coming back in the green uniform?

He's found a great situation in Memphis.  He's a leader for a young team with a bright future.  Memphis wouldn't dream of letting him go, and he wouldn't want to leave either.

I'll admit he's an exciting player to watch, mainly because we never know what will happen when he's on the court, one way or another.

Defense is top-notch, but there's two ends of the court for a reason.  He's at his best in 15 minutes per game, and until he is happy for that, I'll let some other team get knocked out of the playoffs in the second round.  Every year.  At best.

He wasn't supposed to touch the ball because of Danny Ainge's heart condition...he just couldn't bear to watch.

Tony is one of the main reasons Memphis is good.  He's their leader, their defense, and their energy.  Memphis won't trade him, especially not for crap like Big Baby.

I could see them giving up Conley before TA.

I find it pretty funny sometimes following this site....when TA was on the celtics he was the whipping boy for most posters on here because of his turnovers etc. and when he left alot of posters said "good riddance"...now that he's gone and on the grizzlies, everyone looks highly of him and wants him back..

i assume the same will happen if BBD leaves/is traded, or Rondo(whom it seems alot of posters dont want) is traded

On a team with Z-Bo, Gay, Conley, Gasol, and Mayo who have been there for years, and also Battier coming in, TA is nowhere near the top of the pecking order there.  Now to his credit he did have a decent season, similar to what he did for the C's before his injury when he got decent playing time.  But let's not overstate his impact.  I just remember when he returned to TD Garden for the first time as a Grizz, he fired 3 airballs; same old TA.  For every great play he makes, he makes 2 or 3 bad ones.

Yeah.  I think this is very much the case with many of us.  I know I was one of the most outspoken posters against Tony when he was on the C's.  I don't pipe in on these threads too much now though, mainly because I am still glad he is gone, and don't really have much interest in discussing him anymore, just like I have no watching him anymore.

Tony is exactly who I thought he was.  Not good in the role that the C's had for him...but put him in a role where he has more time to make up for his mistakes, and the mistakes aren't magnified as much, and he is a quality player.

I always liked Tony a lot as a competitor. He was a vital role player for us when he was playing well, especially in the 2010 playoffs. Looking back, though, at the flashes of brilliance he showed as a rookie in 04-05 and in 06-07 before he blew out his knee, it doesn't make sense that he literally never improved his shot. In fact, it actually got worse and worse every year. He was seriously lucky to hit the rim on a wide open 15 footer. I understand that he had some horrible luck with injuries, but I've never seen a guy's shot regress so much so quickly. That being said, he still would have been a key role player for us last year, especially in the playoffs.

I liked Tony, but posters here are correct that this is a case of 'grass is greener'.  When here, many wished him gone.  Now gone, the voices yearn for him. 

My opinion is that he is, was and will be a decent role player who adds value to a good team and can put up stats if on a bad team.  As we know, Tony also taketh away and that is why I feel bringing him back is much ado about almost nothing. It'd be nice to have him here, but nothing more than nice.

Yeah, those couple air balls definitely outweigh the steal and dunk that put them up 7 and won the game.

Typical; ever think you just notice the mistakes more because you hate him?  If you really think he makes 3 bad plays for every good one then I'd check your math.
