we'll go ahead and select the first of our house bands: Wilco
I was never a huge fan (i went the Son Volt route post-UT breakup) but was totally converted when i saw them live.
Our 3 bands are all gonna be versatile bands --- they can play loud, quiet, fast, slow, covers, jams, etc. --- you'd want to see live 3 nights in a row.
I actually still wear my Wilco A.M. t-shirt from when I saw them in 96 (I believe). It looks like the moths attacked it with all it's holes and my wife hates it but I won't let her throw it out...it just gets more comfortable every day...
They're not my favorite band but they're one of the best I've seen live. And with my other bands I can go a little closer to my heart.
I agree...you don't want a "studio band" playing live in your bar.
