most of their minutes would be behind Ray Allen..we havent really gotten a good backup for him and we cant have him playing 35minutes every game because we dont have anyone else to stretch the floor..

I think with Grant hill, you also have to look at the doc rivers effect...he played for him in orlando and said hed love to play for him again and the two are friends...

I dont understand the article saying Miami could offer them more playing time...with Lebron/wade playing 40minutes a game what wing wants to go to Miami to sit on the bench the whole year and be like eddie house?? we're trying to cut down our starters minutes so that likely means more playing time and more touches

Honestly think that short term(next year) and long term(keeping salary down for 2012 and beyond) that the perfect addition would be Grant Hill.

First off, signing Hill to a two year LLE of about $2.1 million per means you don't have to bring back Green and can sign and trade him. Hill gives you so much more than Green ever could. Salary cap flexibility, passing, consist defense, consistent outside shooting and a veteran's presence with the second unit all for millions and years less on a contract. He can also play either the 2 or 3.

He leaves the MLE to be used for a center or PF with length, he leaves the sign and trad option open on Green which could net a very nice future option whether it be a first round pick or a possible young player to develop.

Redd is a veteran's min player due to his injury and could probably be added as well instead of Von Wafer.

But if it came down to Hill or Prince I want Hill, age be danged. He brings so much more to the table, has been healthier of the last three years, is familiar with Doc Rivers and is one of the true nice guys who you never have to worry about in the locker room.

I would then try to package Davis and Green in sign and trades and use the MLE on one year contracts for Leon Powe and Kurt Thomas and go with the philosophy of:

"If everything works out and everyone stays healthy we have a championship club, if not and Thomas, Powe, Redd, and Hill turn out to be too old and/or injured, well, run as far as you can with what you have, clear the decks for 2012 and go for the Chris Paul for Rondo trade and do everything to land Howard."

Hmmmm...pretty sure the Celtics need size. None of these three names remedy that need.

Besides, Michael Redd hasn't been healthy in like 9 years.

I think the Shaq experiment should've taught us that signing cheap, injury prone players to one year deals doesn't really help your team.

Tayshaun Prince would be nice for small forward depth. That said, I am not exactly thrilled at the prospect of picking out of the scrap heap.

We need better players than this.

well, we need other things besides size...and we likely will use our MLE to remedy that.

If you want to compete for a championship, you need to have talented roleplayers..

and with our limited options you need to go for these type of guys...talented players who have fallen by the wayside due to injury, age, problem players(delonte) etc. and hope that they can rekindle some of their old self on your team.

The article references Sam Cassel and PJ Brown. Those days are gone. With the Big three aging Ainge and Doc have both said they need to get younger and more athletic. That said would love to see Redd or Hill in green (not both). Prince has played tentatively the last few years and seems reluctant to mix it up. Hill could mentor Green; but have never liked Prince's game. Green can play some 4 so it does open up the poss. of playing another SF - just prefer Hill.

Agree completely.  Hill would be the perfect addition to this team.  He is basically a better version of what you hoped to get from Marquis Daniels.  A guy who can play the 2 and 3, but who also can handle the point.

Particularly if the C's decide to go with West as their primary backup PG, they are going to need a guy like Hill as a security blanket when he gets injured.

1,2,3 rotation of Rondo, Ray, Paul, West, Hill, Green would be VERY strong, and have a lot of flexibility.  And then they can just use the MLE to solidify the frontcourt.

Yeah, it could be, although I expect that Miami is going to throw their full MLE at Dalembert (if there still is a full MLE), and then try to target wing guys with their other exceptions.

I'm curious to see who Chicago targets before next season (whenever that is).

Does Miami need any more wings?  Don't they already have Wade, Lebron, James Jones, and Mike Miller?  OK, I just checked and they don't have James Jones.  I'm really interested to know what's going on with him and why he suddenly was removed from the rotation in the Finals.  Good defender and shot 46% from downtown during the playoffs until he got yanked.  Not to mention single-handedly beat the celtics one game.

Could definitely see them go with a lineup where Wade's the "point guard" and a Grant Hill type plays the 2.

Or Lebron at the 4.

I don't think they'll target a wing player, but I don't think they'd shy away from one either.

This is the key here.  I think they know that playing Lebron at the 4 is something they need to do for stretches to be successful.

With the lack of quality bigs on the market, I think bringing in another wing could be the best way for them to add more talent off their bench.

So our biggest goal seems to be to replace Jeff Green.

Interesting

Either that, or with the lockout we are all really over anaylzing any ounce of free agency rumors we can get our hands on.

Well, this was just an article with the beat writer throwing out ideas.  She decided to name three of the most recognizable names on the market, because it would create more buzz, and because she could piece together "reasons" why the C's are interested in these particular three players.

I can all but guarantee you that the C's real top priority this offseason is going to be to address the frontcourt issues.

I don't think there will be a season so I am not buying this at all.   If there is a shortened season maybe they try the one more run thing.   But odds are we may have seen our big three play their last games together.  I can't see Ainge extending KG or RA when their contracts expire in 2012.   Deal them perhaps but he may let them walk, cash in his two picks and I think they are going to try to get Austin Rivers with one of them or use both of them to move up and take this kid.   We then take our chances on Dwight or I could see Rondo getting traded for CP, I hope not but you never know with Danny.

I just don't see us getting old unless we have a shortened season.

Of course our biggest focus is going to be on acquiring bigs for the frontcourt....but that doesnt mean we dont have other holes to fill....

Doc mentioned 2 things they want to address in the offseason:

1. Bigs
2. Three point shooting

I don't understand the fixation with Kwame Brown.
