Bill Russell wasn't filling the stat sheet with points. Never averaged over 20 ppg... but he has 5 MVPs
But he was averaging 16-18 PPG, over 20 rebounds per game, was the best defensive player in the league and it wasn't close and Boston beat writers used to count his blocked shots because they weren't an official stat and some claim he was averaging over 10 blocks a game. Almost no one in the league has ever tried to say that that claim is invalid.
If Rondo could average 15 PPG, dish out 15 assists per game and average 10 steals a game without being a good shooter or making 60% on his FTs, I am sure he would be MVP, but that's not going to happen.
