Could Rondo be the MVP?

If there's a next season, could rondo be the MVP? If there's a shortended season, and a long offseason, Rajon would get to heal, and workout. A lot.

Early last season, he was in the MVP race. His sick performances (like the one against the knicks= 24 ast) held him in it, until he got into that slump. But I think, a short season, and a lot of workout could make Rondo the MVP.

[hey, dont blame me.. its nothing to talk about during the lockout.. at least this is something]

Nope.


Not unless he develops a more respectable jump shot and his scoring jumps to the near 20 point a game range. 


That's what he needs to do to get himself on the hype list through out the season. 


Be both exciting and a scorer.  The media loves the scorers.

Agreed ;D

maybe he could work it out, but next season is quetionable

Mind you, I am not knocking Rondo. 


But he needs to do something extra to get into the conversation, especially when the voters look at the rest of his team.

Reason I’d say no:  The highest John Stockton ever finished was 7th.  Rondo might be able to put up similar numbers in points (14 to 17ppg), assists (11 to 14apg), and steals (2 to 3spg), on teams that win 50 to 60+ games, but he can’t touch Stockton on his 50/40/80 shooting.  Only thing Rondo does better is rebound (which he does well, but inconsistently).  If Stockton has never been in the ballpark, I don’t see how Rondo could be.

Reason I’d say maybe:  Steve Nash won 2 MVP awards (and finished 2nd another time).  Rondo plays better D rebounds better, passes just as well.  But again Nash kills him shooting 50/40/90.  If Nash could win it with no D, maybe Rondo could win it with no shooting?  Doubt it though.

It was more Phoenix's style that won Nash those MVPs, not his numbers. 


They were the most exciting regular season team to watch.

Finals MVP maybe...I think a case could be made that he wouldve won it in 2010 had the celtics won that series

He reminds me alot of Paul Pierce
Awkward game, intelligent. But they way they play are not exciting. Those awards are all about being superficial, playing that one-on-one style, making headlines, being on sportscenter 24/7, etc.

Rondo and Pierce are more suited for Finals MVPs. Where leadership, clutch play, and winning matter most. Dwyane Wade is also in that group too

I'd have to disagree with that. I think Rondo is one of the most exciting players in the game today. He has a lot of flash.

IMO he just isn't good enough right now to be an MVP. Nothing to do with flash or sportscenter, I think he actually gets a lot of love in that respect

With the exception of Kobe Bryant's (everyone knows it should've been Chris Paul)MVP award I think its been pretty clear winning combined with statistical excellence has been the deciding factor. if Rondo doesn't win an MVP its going to be because he didn't deserve the award not because he wasn't popular enough. For Rondo to win MVP he's going to have to prove that he's that level of player and your kidding yourself if you think he is right now.

1. He can't shoot!
2. He's not consistent

Defense wins championships but Offense wins MVP awards!
That's why Nash has won 2 and Dwight hasn't! Besides, Rondo can't even shoot free throws! He needs to average at least 15 and 10 and can't have any scoreless games.. And how many game winning shots has he made or even taken? Like you said, He was in the running early last season when he was averaging 14 assists but then what? When the injuries hit (the other players) he couldn't keep those numbers up and then after the Perkins trade, he checked out.. I really like Rajon and appreciate what he has done but let's be REALISTIC: He'll never be a franchise player!

  Rondo had problems when he was injured, not when others were. He generally 9and unsurprisingly) puts up better stats when the others are injured.

jus saw that on the front bout his bow still swollen..

he will never be 100%

weather change in different cities and things  like that would effect his game..
