I still don't understand why Calderon is starting and playing more minutes than Hill.  Care to explain your reasoning behind this?

Calderon and hill will play similar minutes. But calderon will start because utah is starting thabo who is not a concern on offense.  And his defensive inefficiencies can be hid a bit there.

Utah has nice players but 60% are in there decline and by the end of the season are really tired.  I don't see how efficient this team will be with two chuckers at point.

I feel hill off the bench can check crawford on defense and wright will be able to get his shots.

IP and Kane just turned what was a pretty boring Western Conference first round into a very entertaining tet-a-tet in two different threads.

Thanks guys the civility of the Kings/Suns matchup was putting me to sleep. :D

Honestly Denver isn't really saying anything...

Its a bit tough while on vacation and trying to do research and type tons of arguments from my phone.  Sorry I can't be at the computer all day...  ::)

Nene is a poor overall defender.

Not true.
Not true at all, he's one of the better defensive Centers.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Didn't know they were starting Thabo.  Good strategy, but I still think Hill is so much better than Calderon that he should at least be getting the majority of PG minutes.

If you look at my presser you will see that all my players played a very low amount of minutes in the regular season.

In fact I will list it below.

Regular Season Minutes

PG) Davis 31 min, Crawford 11 min, Duhon 6 min
SG) Butler 21 min, Crawford 18 min, Thabo 9 min
SF) Pierce 31 min, Butler 8 min, Thabo 9 min
PF) Garnett 30 min, Jefferson 13 min, Maxiell 5 min
C) Jefferson 21 min, Haywood 27 min

This is the first time doing this that I literally couldn't make up my mind.  Every time I talked myself into Golden State, I thought about the havoc Ray and Rose would cause.  When I leaned toward Memphis, I thought about Dirk (and to a lesser extent Lee) up front.

In the end, I copped out, and literally flipped a coin.  Golden State won.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Lowry started 71 games last year. That's what bugs me sometimes about my guys I guess. I've done the research, and a lot of them I've watched them play a lot, because I'm a fan, that's why when I say that lowry was the rockets best two way player from the allstar break on last year, I'm confident, or that Bogut is the bucks best player and the biggest reason they made the playoffs last year, I'm confident. But, while I understand that people know Lowry as a backup, or Bogut as 'the white center that plays in Milwaukee, and white centers are slow and unathletic'. But, I know they're wrong.

Also regarding Alvin gentry, he's universally liked by players, he's a versatile coach, and I like his interviews. He's recieved generally positive reviews, and I'm fine with him here

Never said that but you're overrating him. He's nothing special and not gonna shut down big al.

I agree that Nene's defense is overrated, but that's mostly due to his consistency.  In Denver, he has often showed little commitment on the defensive end.  However, after the Carmelo trade, Nene seemed to be re-energized, and his defense was very good.

That's all I am saying here. Nene is a good player but he's by no means a top 5 defensive center. Also the center position in a way has become overrated as it is a shallow position from a talent stand point. It's been five or six years since a team with an all star center was on a title team. In fact like Jefferson and nene it's a position that a lot of PFs play.

One other thing to remember is that defensive rebounding is a part of defense as it ends positions. Jefferson is a very good defensive rebounder and a better one then nene.

Everything Roy said kinda goes for me too, and a lot of it hinges on how dirk and lee work defensively.
