there's no time to wait on dwight howard ,that's still even a big IF if he would sign here therefore i would conjur up a plan to not only compete now compete next year too

j.r. smith
he's probbaly looking for a 3-4 year deal around 7-9 million so how do we afford him? 3 words .SIGN AND TRADE

i dont think denver will resign him i've read that he wants to move on & so does the nuggets he's only a year older than rondo (somewhere around that ball park) he can be abother cornerstone piece in the future along with rondo & jeff

we can possibly s&t j.o contract along with avery bradley & a conditional 2nd rounder with semih's TPE for j.r smith or a j.o & glen s&t swap

we can offer j.o vet min after a more than likely buyout

Jason Thompson

much easier than trading for j.r we can trade for him straight up with Quisy's TPE for Jason thompson add a future pick so that sactown bites harder

VET MIN guys & possible LLE guys  ..Aaron grey & kyrlenko fesenko are two big beefy guys that'll help us at the center position & like i mentioned before resigning j.o after a more than likely buyout from denver & marquis daniels would be good insurance though he wouldnt get injured if ray or j.r has to sit out a while other than that he can play on the garbage time team

resign delonte
im not too sure about resgning delonte but since im a fan of his i'd like to see him back ,again a guy for insurance again a guy for garbage time though many of you will say delonte is better than that i cant brin myself to say he has a major roll after the injuries he has last year on a consistant basis

sign the rookie johnson ,let etuan play in italy & grow as a player

The MLE
Joel Prizbilla
i wouldnt use the whole MLE but about 4 million outta the 5 plus mill & use the rest of the mle on a buyout target or another center (kwame brown??)

if this pipe dream comes true our roster looks like this

Rondo/Delonte
J.r. Smith/Pierce/Ray
Green/Pierce/Daniels
KG/Jason T/JJJ
Pryzbilla/j.o/grey/fesenko/some jason t.

i benched paul simply because i feel that resting the big 3 is a must this season & let j.r/jason T & green get the bulk of this minutes to have fresh legs all 48 minutes of a ball game from a selected player rather than a run down player at the end of games (see games 1,2,4,5 in the miami series)

its very possible if danny gets creative enough though this is a pipe dream i like this roster becuase not only do we contend this year ,we contend next year & have building blocks like rondo,j.r.,green,j.thompson for the future then & PROBABLY THEN would we be able to talk dwight howard into greener pastures

paul is captain of the team.  he will not be coming off of the bench.  if any will, it'll be ray allen, but he'll be more in a jason-terry role where he gets starter's minutes, just off the bench.  after all, he's comfortable playing w/ the second unit and said so himself.  I love JR and Thompson, AND would love to get rid of big baby.  he doesn't have the heart or drive to play as a celtic.

in any case, i believe we'd be going after the right pieces in JR and Thompson.

older players play they best when they get their second wind..

gotta start them..

our vets get the lead and the bench tends to give the game back..solid bench means more wins

TP for realistic idea.
I'd rather EMoore come back when/if lockout ends, just for the comfort of Jujuan to have his long time friend/teammate.

Another S/T idea would be BBD, JO and Bradley for JR and KMart

Kenyon Martin is a good enough rebounder and post player to be our starting 5. JO would likely be bought out and resign with us, and JR would be our 6th man Ginobli role
Can't stop, Rondo!

yeah but even with k-mart i would replace him with fesenko in my roaster & still use the TPE on jason thompson he's a 6'11 PF that can & probbaly would play center also young it better suits us for now & the future

I'm still not seeing why Sac gives us Thompson for a mere exception.  Why would they give him away for basically nothing?  That's not even taking into account that this TPE quite possibly disappears in the next CBA so it may not even be an option as part of a trade.

I wouldn't mind having Thompson.  I just don't agree that Sac will give him up without something like a player and/or picks in exchange.

Totally off base on JR Smith.   Ray Allen is a third Stringer?
Paul is a second stringer?

Jason Thompson is a good idea though.

I would probably bully-talk KG into playing center, with JO backing him up.  They split time.

If we're going to preserve cap space, I'd try to get Kenyon Martin for a one-year MLE to split time at PF with BBD.

Paul and Green split SF time.

Delonte backs up Rondo and Ray, with a few minutes available to the best guard pickup out there, or Bradley gets a few minutes of run?

That looks like the best path for us: most talent at the most positions, with solid depth all around.  The third stringers will include both rookies, and might include another run at Troy Murphy's rehab and my guy Von Wafer.

The bigs are the big question, though...as always.

Pierce off the bench and Ray as the back up to the back up? Pipe dream indeed.

A couple names from this thread, Kenyon Martin and JR Smith are already off the table.  Both have signed in China with no opt-out, therefore, they will not be available to sign in the NBA until after the CBA season is over (sometime in March I believe).

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I'd look to try really hard to sign Tracy McGrady. For two reasons.

1) I love Tracy McGrady, and his performance last year proved he can play a very versatile role off the bench, and just wants to play basketball

2) Because it would give Master Po a stroke.
