I haven't checked in for a while. I have been busy with other activities mostly outdoor and been working a lot. There has been very little news to digest on the Celtic front. I suspect that there will be little effort to resolve the lockout much before training camp is scheduled to open. Or perhaps they get a deal done to play a reduced season a la 1999. Missing a season would be catastrophic and the NBA would lose all credibility it had gained in recent years. Boston Bruins hockey would dominate the winter sports scene, unless the Patriots go back to the Super Bowl. Wyc Grousebeck disappointed me with his attitude of being willing to miss an entire season in order to reduce costs. Say it ain't so Wyckie! You want to go risk going back to 22 years of rebuilding and watching Dwight Howard sign with the Lakers and watch them pass by you in total championships won. Is that how you wish to be remembered, Mr Grousebeck?
The beatings will continue until morale improves

I think Wyc is just staying solid with his fellow owners.  I'm sure he's one of the few owners that would rather have a season than not.  This is pretty much the last year of "the window" and Wyc would like to see that as much as anyone.

I don't know where you are getting this happy talk about Grousebeck from.  He's made it clear that he's one of the hardliners amongst the owners.

I don't think there are any owners that actually want to lose a season (or even a game).  They just would rather lose the season than not fix the system which they believe is broken.

As for new ideas, unfortunately no.  This is the most frustrating part of the lockout, because without knowing what the new CBA is going to be, it is really hard to let my imagination run with too many ideas for the C's.

I know we are all die hard fans of the Celtics and basketball, but my idea is for us to make the supreme sacrifice and let both the Owners and Players  know our frustration and dissatisfaction at the same time.

If we lose even one game to this farce of a lockout, I suggest that every fan boycott the opening game of their HOME team.   This  would also include NOT watching on tv. I realize that is a big loss, especially for season ticket holders... Owners and players alike would have to notice the empty seats...maybe it would even worry them  enough to lower some prices...If a few fans of the opposing team showed up, the game would have to be played, given that season tickets and tv rights had been sold, and to hold to a schedule and the players and venue would have to be paid for anyway...

Impossible to get everyone to buy in to this, I suspect.  Just a vengeful, impossible, nasty plan I hatched up while I was news deprived during the lockout.

this would never work. season tix holders paid for their seats. im not swallowing my $ to make an attempt to make a statement (one which won't matter and will be long forgotten shortly after opening night due to the media, nba market machine, and the ADD society we live in).  imo

You are right, of course, Dark_Lord, and I had already considered that.  However, I do feel that a boycott is possibly the only way that the fan can make his voice heard by  both the Owners and the Players.  Owners and players can spout platitudes about how they feel the fan's pain, but until they feel a little twinge of their own, it is just talk.

Yeah, the only thing that would make a difference would be if a large portion of the season ticket holders cancelled their season tickets...and others didn't buy them up.

Short of that, its just not going to change anything.

Whoa....I don't want to ruin the game, and I don't want season ticket holders to lose their tickets.  I just want to make a statement that would be noticed.   My idea was just for the first game back.

(I don't agree that it wouldn't do any good, I think the threat of a boycott would bring the third party in this equation, the fan, into the limelight and force the other two to pay attention.)
