Surprised this wasn't posted until now, he was talking about the two rookies (johnson, moore) and the possibility of him joining the Celtics.

-Is he worth the MLE and possibly hurting our capspace if signed ?
-The possibility to sign him to a 1 year deal ?

How would this 2nd unit look ?

West
Bradley
Green
Landry
Johnson

I like Landry as a player and think he'd be a very nice addition.  Having said that, I want Danny to get a genuine center with whatever version of the MLE still exists in the new CBA.  If he can also get Landry, that's a real coup.

If Sign and Trades can still happen, could we PLEASE trade BBD for Landry. At least NO gets something for Landry, and ditto for us with BBD. Wouldn't care if we had to throw in a pick.

I'm starting to like Jujan Johnson, and have high hopes, but Landry can fit right in and produce. And with the health of JO and age of KG, he's someone I'd trust getting those big minutes.
Next to that, there are no bigs out there that will sign in Boston for MLE that are worth it. Pray JO stays healthy(LOL) and get a big for the vet min like Kurt Thomas,Pryzbilla, or Kwame Brown
Can't stop, Rondo!

No.  He'd be an upgrade over BBD, but he's not worth a full MLE deal, in my mind.

though he's a good player with our MLE we need one of the two or both

a scoring wing(j.r smith or jamal crawford)

or center(samuel dalemburt,pryzbilla,aaron grey etc.)

i would defenitly give him our bi annual exception but thats a pay cut to what he made last year i think

if BBD doesnt want to come back, Id definitely love to do a S+T for landry. he averaged 10pts a game last year and would be a pretty good backup for Kevin Garnett

So did BBD.  If you want to go purely by stats BBD has the edge over Landry. Landry only beats him in FG% in the major categories; everything else is just about even or BBD has the edge.

Whether we have BBD or Landry, I don't know if it makes that much of a difference.  We see BBD day in and day out and see his faults.  But It would be the same with Landry if he was here; there's a reason he's been traded multiple times and isn't a starter in the league.

i mean we can s&t for him with ex contract of j.o (which i dont see happening) or with glen which is more of a possiilty gle would like n.o since he can start with d.west & landry leaving ,we probably wont need the mle to attain him the 2.4 player exception being another option in a s&t

If they can S&T Baby for Landry, they should do it quickly. The Celtics would still have the MLE and the LLE, plus the Marquis TPE to improve their bench, and for reasonable prize (3-4 mil a year), Landry is a great addition. He's an upgrade over BBD in almost every area, except charges taken and defense in the post. But the Celtics still will need Kwame or another 7 footer for their bench, so post defense will be improved in another way.

Ideally, JO and KG start, Kwame (or better, if possible) and Landry would be primary backups, and JaJuan and Green would be third options. That would be a really good interior rotation, if they're all healthy. Add Troy Murphy in a Scalabrine role (but for vet min money), and Semih as insurance for JO, and the Celtics are set in big men department.

Kwame could be had for part of the MLE, I don't think he'd play for the LLE, and there's a real need for him. So they would have the rest of the MLE (if there is one), the LLE and maybe the TPE to get another wing player. T-Mac for the LLE would be great, and resigning Delonte (non-bird rights increase?) would round up the team.

JO/Kwame/Semih/JaJuan
KG/Landry/Jajuan/Green
Captain/Green/T-Mac
Ray/T-Mac/Moore/West
Rondo/West/Bradley

That's 14 players, with health insurance for JO, some money to fill the open roster spot... Of course, it would be great acquiring JR Smith or Jamal Crawford for the MLE, but the priority is a Big Center who can defend in the post.

If Danny can S&T Baby for Landry, the rest of the pieces will be easier to get. Please, NO, S&T Landry to the Celtics, you know Baby is from Baton Rouge and he'll be a local favorite  :P

Too good to be real, all in all...

It'd be hard to justify giving the MLE to a guy who is pretty clearly just a power forward.

Yes, in theory JaJuan Johnson could play some 5, but he's only 6-10 and rather skinny.  The better plan would be to get a real 5, and then have the luxury of playing Johnson as a 4 primarily, but with some limited minutes at the 5.

Still, while we never call KG a center, let's face it, he's played there a lot over the years.  He did it when Doc went small with Posey in '08 and he essentially played the team defense role of a center everytime he was paired with BBD on the floor.

So if that's the case, we really have two centers on the team (KG and JO), and perhaps if the choice is between blowing the MLE on some stiff center or on a good 4 (like Landry), the latter is the better choice.

Still, given that money will likely be a more scarce commodity after the lockout, Landry (and Baby for that matter) likely won't be worth the MLE.

I agree.  I LOVE Landry as an upgrade to BBD, but we can't overpay.  Too much at stake a year down the road to shoot ourselves in the foot for a bench PF upgrade.

Hate to be the one to break the news to you but Semih was traded last year to Cleveland.  The only way he's not staying in Cle (which needs a young center almost as badly as we do) is if he goes back overseas.
