Maccabi Tel-Aviv looking into E'Twaun Moore

...According to a one-line story I read in an Israeli sports newspaper today. Not sure how much this rumor is true.
They've signed John Scheyer about a week ago, and are looking for another SG.

I'd be delighted to see E.Moore go to Europe.

I doubt he is good enough to crack the Celtics roster so him going to Europe and working on his game is the best option for Boston. Especially since they'll retain his draft rights and will be able to sign him in a future season should his improvement warrant it.

Maccabi is a good place to be.
Anthony Parker and Will Bynum are two good players who played for Maccabi before coming to the NBA.

Why would you need to be Jewish to play for Maccabi?

Yes it would be good to see how he can compete at the next level (I would consider this move a step up for NCAA Div I) and what kind of game he has.  But the reality is players selected at this draft position are really long shots to make the NBA so not really sure if matters from a Celtics perspective on way or another.

I agree.

He is a somewhat intriguing player, but overall, he is a longshot to make this team, let alone play any minutes next year.  So, if he can make some cash on a premier European club like this, then he should do it.

From what I've gathered about Moore, he seems like the type of player who could be a really good pro in top level European basketball.  He's smart, tough, and just seems like a true "baller." 

He may not have the size and athleticism to get on an NBA floor right now, but a couple of years of seasoning with an international professional club could turn him into a guy who might be a solid NBA player.

If we could retain his rights, I like the idea.

Also, in some ways, I think if he signs in Israel it can have as big on impact on how the NBA does business moving forward as the D. Williams situation.  If the D-league doesn't up its game in a hurry, I could see teams looking for a loop hole where they can draft American players and choose to stash them overseas instead of here.  I'm sure that's not technically legal in a non-lock out situation, but overall I'm all for accelerating the mixing of domestic and world basketball.  E'Twaun going overseas might be able to help that process.
