What do you think? Celts might have to throw in a draft pick, but I think this is a fair trade. Celts would make out really well, for sure.

I just can't think why you trade Rajon Rondo for Chris Paul.  I mean, if Danny doesn't have faith in Rondo, he ought to go for it, but I think Rondo is a player who has just begun to reach his potential, and looks pretty stellar.  Ainge should take him off the trading block.

I'd do it except I think Ray and/or Jermaine would instantly retire. And I don't think NO would do it unless they were certain CP3 were leaving

It's called a jumpshot.

All GM's have 'faith' in their stars that they lock up longterm, but if a better player becomes obtainable, you have to pull the trigger for the betterment of the team.

Chris Paul makes this C's team better than Rondo.

Who plays better defense? That matters too. So does rebounds.

why is everyone wanting to trade Rondo? if you look away from his jumper, he is the ultimate PG.

Quickness=check
Speed=check
Rebounding=check
Scoring=check
DEFENSE=check
Get2TheRimAbility=check
man, i can go on liek this forever..  ::)

well he's part of something we call the "core group" of a veteran team.. The main excuse (or at least one of them..)for the early exit in the playoffs this year, many people blame, not the trade itself, but tearing up umbuntu. When traded away Perkins, we did not only trade away a part of our teams defense, but umbuntu. You heard what KG said, how it felt like they had lost a family member.. imagine without Rondo (also if you trade RayRay) you will tear up this core, real, real bad.

And hey, Rondo has worked, and IS working on his jumper. He will get better. But also, Rondo is a player that doesnt need one. His ability to get to the rim.. + his inhuman passes, defense, hustle.. put him up with Dwight Howard and Jeff Green, and watch them put on a show, bring home some rings.  ;D

Doc's gonna tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear.

Yeah iknow, my username is Kendrick Perkins and my ranking is Jeff Green. Ironic huh?

While I am not sure I am for this trade configuration as stands, I am not averse to trading Rondo for a CP3 or Deron Wms in the right package.

Not being able to hit BOTH that jumper AND free-throws impacts negatively, not just his game but also the rest of the team.

We have already seen numerous instances, particularly late in games where RR is reluctant to go to the hoop. This is for two reasons:

 1. If he attacks the rim and is fouled, he is  at the line where he is obviously not comfortable because of his woeful free-throw shooting, and

2. The defenders back off him because they are more than willing to give him that jumper and they can almost play 5 on 4 D against our other guys, so it is more difficult to attack the rim for him, even if he was so inclined, which he isn't late in the game because of his fear of shooting free-throws.

with the skills you mentioned, chris paul is at least on par with rondo (and better in certain ones).personally, i think paul to the c's is slightly farfetched and unlikely to happen but if it ever did become a serious possibility, ainge has to make that move. imo, chris paul is a superior player to rondo. he doesnt have any real holes in his game while rondo has several. we all love rondo but you gotta make that deal if it ever presents itself.

  I don't think I'd say CP is at least on par with Rondo as a rebounder or defender. He'll be on par with speed/quickness and getting to the rim if his knee continues to improve, which doesn't seem to be a given. He's a better jump shooter and ft shooter and somewhat better overall, but he's not as good or better than Rondo in every aspect of the game.

Congrats, youve made yet another thread that involves a terrible trade rondo idea.

I'm so grateful to see this.  We had to go several days without a bad Rondo trade idea, and it was excruciating.  I hope we are back on track.  This idea is a real twofer - yes, by all means, let's trade the two guys who ought to be untouchable.

  Yep, it's going to be a long lockout...

Just wait until people really start getting loopy.  At least this one has us getting an All-Star in return.

I think we are about 2 months away from seeing deals that are WAY out there.

Not a bad trade idea.  It would effectively take the Cs out of the Dwight Howard sweepstakes, likely angering half of celticsblog, but would make the Cs better positioned to bridge the end of the Big Three era and whatever is next. CP3 and Okafur is a good tandem to build off of, with PP as the grizzled vet providing leadership.
Celtics fan for life.
