I fully expect that we are going to start seeing many more players do this very shortly.

It may end up being nothing more than posturing, but, at the very least will give some players a temporary boost in income.

I don't think there are enough jobs in the European league to absorb  many players.  Star quality is fine, but a lot of these teams are very nationalistic (at least it seemed that way during the FIBA championships) and they are still working on raising public (fan) interest.  Throw in China (they probably have more money) and you might lose a few more players.  The owners probably have had studies done on this before they pulled the trigger, and have said they are willing to chance it.

I think the opposite; this helps the owners more than the players.  D-Will won't make anything close to what he can command in the NBA playing overseas.  It just shows some players are getting desparate and their only alternatives are much inferior money wise.

D-Will has one year left on his contract with a good chance he may no see much or any of that money, so it probably makes more sense for him to sign a small deal.  A guy with 70-90m guaranteed remaining on their NBA contract would probably be foolish to risk that.  Even though they probably won't see all of that money at the end they'll probably a good chunk of it.

Yeah, I think he just wanted an all expenses paid Turkish vacation.

I really don't think guys like Williams are going there for the money, they are going there because they love to play basketball, and see it as a fun opportunity to do something they wouldn't have normally done.
