I'd pick Bird even if his dad coached.  I don't know about you, but I can't think of anything more motivating than if my dad coached me. I mean there's a guy you can't blow off. Makes you a lot less likely to bring a skank back to the hotel, right? Granted you're a lot more likely to pull off a Sprewell strangling, but that's between family.

tp for 2 great points. family motivation and choke outs
Can't stop, Rondo!

Austin Rivers is only like 6'3.  Unless he grows another 2-3 inches he's just another combo guard.  Anyways let's see how he does at Duke, like someone else said before saying oh should we draft this guy if he's there regardless..

he's listed at 6'4 and he's 18. that is a normal size for a shooting guard.

Yeah.  There are plenty of very good players in the league at that size; not all of them are pure point guards (e.g. Jason Terry).
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

That's pretty much the only answer, isn't it?

If Rivers is the best player on the board, take him.  If somebody better is available, take that guy.  It's pretty much impossible to project who you will or won't take a year ahead of time.

Agreed.  Also, I feel like if Rivers drops to where the Clippers pick would be, it is probably because there are some real red flags.
