  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
First off, let me say that I LOVE Rondo and I want him to be a Celtic for his entire career and retire his jersey next to The Truth's.

But if you were Ainge, and you were put into a situation where you HAD to trade Rondo because you were unable to resign him for cap space reasons this season, who would you trade for him? Pretend that he has the trade value of Lebron James and he has a Rashard Lewis-like contract (so you could be able to fit another player or 2 into the trade). So if everybody in the league saw Rondo as Jordan, who would you trade him for in the league? (Don't worry about the details, we could S&T Big Baby or do whatever.)

I would ONLY trade Rondo in these trades or something similar...

1. Boston / Hornets
Rondo for Chris Paul/Emeka Okafor/Aaron Gray

2. Boston / Magic
Rondo for Dwight Howard/ Jameer Nelson or Arenas

3. Boston / Nets
Rondo for Deron Williams/Brook Lopez/Kris Humphries (He has to bring along Kim Kardashian)

(If Lebron James could play the Point for 82+ games, I would jump for him. The moment he puts on a Celtics uniform I will instantly forgive him. His life would be a nightmare with KG glaring at him every time he says stupid things or farts or anything crazy.)

Do you you could win a championship the next year with the tradees + Big 3? I mean, Rondo knows the Celtic system and everything. Plus, he has amazing chemistry with the Big 3. He has gained their trust - It took him a long time to do so, though. Do you think if we had the players you traded for this year, we would've won(with no off season)?

I have one thing to say to this post: WHAT IS WRONG WITH FARTING?!

The only trade you listed with any probability is the Chris Paul trade, but it would take more than Rondo to get it done.

Rondo,Green,BBD,JO,Bradley and picks to Orlando

Dwight and Arenas to Boston

Arenas, West
Ray, Wafer
Pierce, Moore
KG, JJ
D12, Troy

We'd have to use the Mid lvl(if it exists then) to sign a 6th man like JR Smith or Jamal Crawford. Then find a veteran big man for the BiAnnualExp or LLE. Ben Wallace,Etan/Kurt Thomas,Kwame Brown
Can't stop, Rondo!

I should know better than to click on a trade idea thread.  This is is about as ridiculous as the others, with the Howard idea being amongst the worst I have ever heard.  We could trade out entire team and it wouldn't be enough to get Howard in an even trade.

Maybe Rondo plus Green plus draft picks get us Paul.  But it wouldn't be worth it.

Why couldn't we get Howard in a trade? They are either gonna get something for him, or nothing when he leaves (unless you consider what Cle/Tor got "something").

Barring any extreme changes to the CBA where teams of current players are at such an extreme advantage, he's leaving. Even if there are extreme changes, Otis Smith set the team so far back with the trades and contracts (Arenas, JRich, Turk) that will handcuff a hard cap significantly.

I doubt Ainge would trade Rondo for Dwight (unless something drastic changes in the CP3 situation), but I don't see how Smith (assuming he is at all competent) can turn down such a good player at such a good contract. Throw in picks or whatever and it's something they have to do.

Quite simply, Rondo is good, but not nearly enough to acquire someone like Howard, who I think is arguably the most impactful player in the NBA.  The best center of his generation by a landslide.

Most likely, the magic will want a big man in return anyway.  I am quite sure the magic would jump at a Bynum/Odom combo for Howard.

Besides, even in trades, he player can (and likely will) exert is power.  Look at Carmelo who basically maneuvered his way to NY.  The word is that Howard wants to play in NJ and LA, both of whom have a big man they can send back t Orl.

So no, I don't think Rondo as a centerpiece is enough to get Howard.  Not really close IMO.

I wouldn't consider any Rondo trade, if I were Ainge.  I don't think it's possible to build a team without committing to SOMEONE.  But that seems to be what Ainge is trying to do.  He's taking the attitude that anyone on the team is trade bait.  Really?  You just can't build a team that way, Danny. You have to believe in something, and that means you have to believe in somebody.  Ainge should take Rondo off the table, or go ahead and trade him.

As regards Howard, our best attraction in trying to get him to come here is Rondo.  Trying to trade Rondo FOR him makes no sense.  Perhaps trading KG and Allen for Howard could be worked out.

I would not rule out such changes.

The 84-85-86 Larry Bird.

From now on, a TP for every Bird mention I see on CB. :)

That said, I'm pretty much with PC on this one, and want the "Core Four" for another go or two.

its impossible for us to trade for howard. What would orlando get out of that deal? yet another 3 point shooter and a KG who will probably retire for being traded?
