I would welcome him back for 1 year, with the uncertainty of Green taking a 1 year QO we need Davis. And I guess he could not ask Ainge for more than 1 year deal.

I would also love to have him back for a year. He knows the system well and is quite effective when playing within himself. I never understood why people thought he would sign a huge contract with another team. He is a system guy and those types don't usually get 'paid'. Is this going to go on forever?

I'd rather take Troy Murphy. Less money, better rebounder and better shooter.
He didn't play well for us late in the season b/c of being out of shape and his injury.

Lets hope we can trade Davis anywhere for anything. A bench SG or even a true C. ....How about Davis for Aaron Gray?
West is opting out, Landry is doubtful to return there, and Davis could start

KG,JO,Gray,JJ,Murphy - not a bad big man rotation IMO
Can't stop, Rondo!

He's only saying & doing this b/c his agent reminded him that the Celtics are the most likely team to spend any money on his next contract.

If you think Davis spent the 2nd half of last season with a greater focus on his next contract and not winning, then I guarantee that he'll be even more of a distraction this coming season if he comes back.

For a Celtics team this good, and with so many quality players, coach, & staff, a role player like Glen Davis cannot be allowed to be such a distraction.  He needs to go, and I can't stand that he's still hanging around.

Agreed. now that Celtics has JJ on board & Murphy will likely come back 4 cheap. JJ & Murphy are more than enough to backup KG. They are the ideal 4's in the NBA with their size, length, quickness, and shot making ability. At the center position, i was thinking Fesenko from the Utah Jazz. Fes provides some actual toughness inside to a rather scrawny front-court. but Aaron Gray is fine too.

why the change of tone? could this be the reason why..

Exactly.  Well said.  With two old bigs, one of them barely hanging in there health-wise, and one rookie big who may not even make the team, we are certainly set for next year in the bigs department.

Do you really think there's any chance that JJJ doesn't make the team? Think of the previous rookies we've kept, and then look at how talented JuJuan is. He will not only make the team, he will make the rotation prob around 5 to 15 mins a night.

Fesenko is HUGE
I would love to have him on the Celtics

Murphy could be a nice piece but I don't see how you can be so sure that he is suddenly going to become a different player than last year.  He might I guess but I don't think it is a smart bet to count on him as a rotation player for next season (if there is one).

With Davis though, you can be about as sure as you can be that he can be a reliable rotation big man.  He did fizzle out in the playoffs but for pretty much 3 years he has been a consistent back up big for us.

I would like to see Davis back so long as it doesn't involve stupid money of course.

ok, i'm going to say it. BBD is a headcase. In 7 years, he'll be the next Stephon Marbury or something. lol

Exactly.  Well said.  With two old bigs, one of them barely hanging in there health-wise, and one rookie big who may not even make the team, we are certainly set for next year in the bigs department.

**** r u talking about?? Jermaine played through an injury, and still out performed Fat Baby. the 'old' KG remains one of the best PF in the NBA. the addition of Jajuan johnson & the possiblity of retaining Troy Murphy makes fat baby expendable.

???  Jermaine is an injury or two waiting to happen.  Jajuan Johnson is a rookie who may not have a true training camp to pick up the offense and defense.Troy Murphy is a possibility, but not a guarantee.  And even at that, he would have to play much better than he did last season to even see the floor.

So, with that said, BBD is not expendable and for the right price is actually a valuable asset. During practice he can help the other bigs learn their rotations.  It's a bigger bonus if he can play like he did to start last season.

And no, I'm not a BBD apologist.  But, I am a realist.
We all think we know more than we really do....

If it's true that Baby's poor postseason play was due to the distraction of his impending free agency, then signing him to a 1-year deal would seem irresponsible -- he'd have the same issue, and thus the same distraction and same poor play, next postseason.

Besides all that, I've grown tired of his act -- the complaining, the posturing, the inconsistent play. Send him packin'.

Pretty easy to scapegoat the guy when he gets even fatter during the playoffs.
