James Jones.  6 ft 8 in, 215 lbs.  Could he be like a james posey? Dont know if we can afford him.... i guess green serves the "posey" role.

rondo/ delonte
ray / jones / moore
pierce/ green / jones
KG / Johnson (or baby)
JO/ ___ / Johnson

Posey plays defense (or did, at one point). Jones does not (although he may try).

If he's willing to take a one-year deal, I'd consider him.

Jones from Miami? Isn't he the guy that put the hit on Rondo's arm in game 5? He's got the nasty streak Posey has, if that's who you mean.

I never thought Jones was a bad defender.  It was actually my opinion he was a pretty good defender this past season.  Hmmm... maybe I'll have to pay more attention to him next season wherever he plays.  I remember not thinking too highly of his defense when he played in Phoenix, but that could have just been the system.  I mean they were instructed by their coach to avoid fouling players as best as possible.

JJ is only a spot up shooter who cashed in on all the doubles created by Wade/LBJ. Ray Allen is about as good as it gets in this department. Not the right for us.

Worthwhile depth if we can get him cheap.

I thought J.Jones opted into his contract for next season. A few days ago, I think.

James Jones doesn't rebound. That is his biggest issue.

Defensively, he is a decent. He is a lightweight and a finesse defender who struggles against powerful / physical opponents. So long as he isn't facing an opponent of that nature, Jones is an average one-on-one defender. So slightly below average but serviceable overall in man-to-man D.

Disciplined team defender and fairly average overall on team defense. Good length. Average quickness.

very true.

I thought Jones looked fine on defense against the Celtics. He can shoot and I think his defense is passable. His rebounding on the other hand was less than stellar.

If the C's keep Jeff Green, then their wing priority should be more for a SG. I'd take Von Wafer (or Pavlovic, Stevenson, Daniels, etc.) over Jones at the 2.

But if Jeff Green walks, Jones for a low contract is very high on my back up small forward list.
