Morning - Fire Dennis and Callahan and replace them with Jerry Thorton and El Pres of Barstoolsports.com.

Midday - Bring back Pete Shepard to the Big show and allow him and the Big O to operate like before (rotating guests).

Afternoon - Bring in Michael Smith to partner with Michael Holley.

Most importantly, get a clear FM high definition station in Boston.

This lineup and new FM station would crush the Hub.

Yup.  Toucher and Rich are really the only thing about the sports hub that I like.  But it would be tough to choose them over Thorton and Pres.  I like the idea of the Smith/Holley show too.

But ya, a clear FM station is the first step.

Not sure Jerry Thornon and El Pres are broad enough to draw in large audiences although they would be a hit with the 18-35 (or whatever the equivalent) demographic would be.  Also, it'd be interesting to see how advertisers would respond to the likes of El Pres.

However, most people would see it as an upgrade over D&C simply for what would certainly be the toning down of political talk.

BTW, I didn't mention nighttime because that's when I listen to music, but insert anything other than Planet Mikey and it would be better than DA.

Not a D and C guy but don't those guys dominate the morning? I thought they were well ahead of Toucher and Rich on ratings.

I don't know if it would make that much sense to compete with Toucher & Rich in the 18-35 market.

It does with the proposes combination.

I don't know, I like Barstool Sports a lot but I couldn't see myself even thinking to give them a shot. I almost always like what I'm getting out of T&R - even despite the fact that I rarely watch hockey - and couldn't see myself switching channels.

Hardcore T&R fans will probably continue to to listen to the Hub in the morning. Not everyone in our demo listening to the Hub feel like you. Many would consider switching and listening to equally (if not more) popular personalities.

The Stoolies are HUGE and growing.

They could call the afternoon show the "Mike and Mike Show". Kind of catchy huh?

I actually think it would be a terrible idea to dump Dennis and Callahan for a couple bloggers, who, from what I gather are just Toucher and Rich without the radio experience.

Currently, they have a strong hold of the older demographic.  D and C are not everyone's cup of tea (including mine), but they have their niche, and it is a very large one in the Boston market.  If they decide to dump them and go after the 18-35 bracket, which Toucher and Rich have a strong hold of, they are risking losing the market they already have and being completely blown out of the market when they realize T&R fans aren't coming over.

I also like what WEEI did with the Big Show.  Ordway and Holley are 100x better than the old format, which was just a bunch of guys screaming at the callers without any substance.  Holley does a nice job of balancing out Ordway, and keeping the over the top Big Show fans in check.

Honestly, I think the two stations have found a nice balance.  Both have strong (in their own demographics) drive time shows, and both have completely punted the midday.

One this is for sure though, if either of them actually put some money into the midday instead of throwing out bargain basement hosts (you get what you pay for), they would run away with that time slot.  Unfortunately, they both know that time slot does not bring in the kind of money the drive time shows does, so we are stuck with the mediocrity we have been hearing.

eei shouldnt worry about the morning bc no matter who u put on, toucher and rich will win.

i like the other ideas, mainly smith and holly.

in the end, i still like 98.5 better

Its debatable.  I think Toucher and Rich have been winning in Boston, but D and C have been winning if you include the larger network, which technically includes several other markets.

No matter how you cut it though, D&C are at least holding their own, and I would be shocked to see a program manager put his job on the line to fire them in favor of a couple guys with no real radio experience, who would be going after the same market the other station has a hold of.

However, I don't think it would be a terrible idea to bring those guys in for the midday show, and let them build a fanbase to eventually take over one of the drive-time shows down the road...and I wouldn't be surprised if that is something WEEI is considering, since they have had El Prez in studio.
