I have a feeling we'll be regreting this draft night trade... Remember JR Giddens over DeAndre Jordan?

wow what a stud....  ::)

this video proves nothing except that he can score against other rookies in a weak draft. I am thinking they would have just as much luck scoring when Brooks is guarding them on the other end.

What the hell? As far as i can tell he made two shots in 5 minutes in a not very glorified pick up game.

First, I want that 5 minutes of my life back.

Second, I have footage of me DESTROYING the first hole on the East Course at Winged Foot. Crushed my drive. Pretty decent second shot. ****' 3 putt bogey.

DESTROYED IT!!!

also, marshon brooks was the #25 pick and E'Tauwn Moore was the 55th or whatever, so we didnt really "Pass" on brooks for moore.

also brooks didn't fit a need at all

I suppose things might change when everyone is called upon to play defense more as well operate with a team framework. Videos such as this leave out key areas of team ball I think.

I don't think any one on cb denies that Moore can score. (ooooo...that sounds cute.)

Rather, is his scoring style (looks to be a volume shooter who needs the ball in his hand), at best questionable defense, whether he operates well without the ball, and general atttude (all based upon reviews I admit) is the best fit for the celtics.

I am happy with danny's choice of JJ. Bur, as the cliche states, time will tell. There are regrets and gnashing of teeth every draft and trade by the celtics. Let's see how this all plays out.

The only NBA-ready player that I see in that Indiana workout is clearly Marshon Brooks. The guy has talent and I believe real talent doesn't need justification or further bla bla bla - just work and polishment. He can't defend? Ray also couldn't... before he got here.

I've decided this has to be a complete joke. There is like 7-8 plays. Its 5 minutes of which 4+ minutes is guys standing around. You can't even see who is who.

Ah, found this from the Pacers blog on NBA.com:

WORKOUT WONDERS: I always hesitate to draw too many conclusions about what I see in the workouts, because the media is only allowed for the tail end of the sessions that generally last at least 90 minutes, but it's impossible not to be impressed by some of the prospects.

It didn't take long watching Jimmer Fredette go to work to develop serious concern he won't be available at No. 15 on Thursday. He's a better athlete than you think and has a lot of subtle yet effective moves that he uses to either create shots or space. Everybody knows he has area-code range, but in the workout he looked much more like a future point guard than a college gunner trying to prove he's not a 'tweener. And based on his Crate performance, he has a future as an analyst, say, 15 years down the road.

Kansas guard Josh Selby had no problem getting to the basket against anyone in his workout, dunking easily in traffic and showing scouts he's much more than just a jump shooter. He probably came out at least one year too early but I suspect he'll have a long and productive career.

Much was made (thank you, Michael Grady) of Marshon Brooks' explosive performance in the closing stages of his matchup with Klay Thompson in the June 7 workout. But observers who watched the entire workout said Thompson got the better of Brooks for the balance of the duel, a fact later confirmed by both players.[/font][/b]

I actually liked Brooks as a pick, ironically. But to point to this video as evidence of his greatness is an utter joke.

Gotta disagree here. Our bench needs some type of scoring. He could've been good for us, but I agree JJ is the better pick at this point. Still gotta find a FA for our bench for offense.
Can't stop, Rondo!

I had a hard time telling who was who in that video but I'm guessing Brooks is the guy who shot every time he touched the ball.

Awesome.  He's even a gunner in workouts.

The OP's video did not do much for me but this is the video that makes me nervous about trading brooks...the guy really does have a similar offensive game to Kobe.  He even has his mannerisms...it crazy.

With that said...Dajuans video is prety impressive as well.

Both guys are late first round picks and I think both will be good but Marshon probably won't be Kobe, and Johnson probably won't be KG, but let's keep our fingers crossed that johnson comes closer!

Jay Bilas: "The guy can put the ball in the basket... and you can't teach 'put the ball in the basket'".

Ok... he didn't say that. But Marshon Brooks will be a very, very good player in this league.

Marshon Brooks is the type of player that will do well in this kind of set-up, in scrimmage situation  - no plays to remember, no scouting reports, no referees, no help defenders and no teammates. He's very aggressive and a good 1x1 player. Especially being defender by guys like those.

Brooks will struggle to be a good scorer in the NBA. Not good enough creating high efficiency shots. Like Adam Morrisom.

PS - the same is true for Thompson. Thompson will be strictly an off-the-ball shooter. Not athletic enough to create separation versus NBA defenders, will need lots of screens to free himself. Maybe he can be almost as good as Reggie Miller, but it's more realistic to expect a Kyle Korver.

Gotta disagree here. Our bench needs some type of scoring. He could've been good for us, but I agree JJ is the better pick at this point. Still gotta find a FA for our bench for offense.

I'm also still torn with those two.. will we ever regret trading away Marshon? He's definitely talented in scoring the ball, he even got some 'Kobe' swag.. But there's probably a reason he wound up at 25, even being passed up on by THE New York Knicks! As for JaJuan, He's long, athletic, versatile, defensive minded, a team player... the only problem with him is his skinny frame.. SO between the two, i think Marshon's got the potential to be a franchise player, a go-to-guy, while JaJuan will be a solid, all-around player... but JaJuan fits the Celtics style of play better..
As for the need for bench offense, well there's J-Rich on the FA list.. can we get him?
