Does anyone have all the contingencies on the first round pick we get from the Clippers in 2012? I have read a bundle of posts but they all seem to only have part of the story.

In addition to that first:

Celtics receive the T'Wolves' 2013 second-round pick, via Cavaliers (Delonte West trade) (Luke Harangody trade 02-24-11)
Celtics receive the Kings' 2014 second-round pick (top 55 protected) (Patrick O'Bryant trade 02-19-09)
Celtics receive the Kings' 2015 second-round pick (top 55 protected) (Sam Cassell trade 02-17-09)
Celtics receive the Kings' 2017 second-round pick (top 55 protected) (Marquis Daniels trade 02-24-11)

Does "Top 55 Protected" mean the Celts don't get that pick unless the Kings finish in the top 5 for regular season record?
Yup

Yep

Those trades were made for the purposes of clearing roster space.  It just so happens the Kings were one of the only teams with cap space to absorb a contract and not send any players back, while also in the position to send a us protected pick (because you can't trade a player for strictly cash only) that they knew they'd never have to give up.  The Kings aren't getting that good anytime soon.

As a funny aside, I think when this years trade (Daniels) went down, the Kings were actually under the minimum salary threshold and had to aquire a player anyways.

So I guess we need to root like heck for a sudden Kings dynasty, huh!  Very silly that these types of trades are necessary to maneuver within the current system.

I wonder if there is a contingency in those deals if there is contraction.
Yup

2012 first round draft pick from L.A. Clippers
The Los Angeles Clippers' own 2012 first round draft pick to Boston via Oklahoma City (top 10 protected in the 2012 draft, top 10 protected in 2013, top 10 protected in 2014, top 10 protected in 2015 and unprotected in the 2016 Draft). In addition, if the Los Angeles Clippers are required to send their 2012 first round pick pursuant to the above and are also entitled to receive Minnesota's own 2012 first round draft, then Boston via Oklahoma City shall receive the lesser of the Los Angeles Clippers' own 2012 first round pick and Minnesota's own 2012 first round pick. [L.A. Clippers -Oklahoma City, 6/24/2010 and then Boston - Oklahoma City, 2/24/2011]

Since 2012 is loaded, best case scenario is either:
1. Minny gets a top 10 pick, and LA ends up with the 11th pick; we'd get the 11th pick.

or

2. Clippers never finish better than bottom 10, suck it up every year, then gets the #1 pick in 2016.
