I think there is a really good chance that the c's will end up with a top 5-10 pick in the 2012 NBA draft. They not only own their pick and the clippers pick(hopefully they end up in the 11-15 range), the c's also own the Cav 2nd round pick , which is basically a late 1st round pick because they will still suck next year.

Next years draft is going to be absolutely loaded and teams picking in the top 10 are going to have more than 1 hole to fill on their team. GM's outsmart themselves all the time and try to fill a bunch of holes on their team instead of grabbing a player who has a better chance of becoming a star in the 5-10 range.

So you have to figure if the c's end up with the 11-15,20-25,31-35 picks they are going to most likely be able to package all 3 of those picks and move into the top 10 of the draft, possibly top 5 if they add other chips like bradley or johnson ?

I honestly think the C's are going to after Austin Rivers hard in next years draft.  Danny  even mentioned Austin River's was going to be in next years draft. He would fit perfct at SG with Rondo at the PG. With Doc signed on for 5 more years I think this would be the perfect situation for Austin to grow as a player .

I think this has a very strong chance of happening, but can you imagine if the c's can land Austin rivers AND Dwight Howard in the 2012 off-season? :o

PG: Rondo
SG: Rivers
SF: PP
PF: KG? or Johnson
 C: Dwight

this would be an a great mix of awesome young talent and elite aging role players .

I know it seems like a pipe dream , but I think the Austin Rivers thing will be a strong possibility .

the cavs 2nd is in 2013 draft, I want to get Andre Drummond instead of Rivers, and maybe move up in the draft with our first and bradley to get a guard-forward, maybe if there is an amnesty clause joe johndon get's waived and we sign him too.

this may be our roster

rondo/moore
johnson/ray
pierce/1st pick
KG/drummond(clips pick)
Howard/2nd pick PF/C

there's also an option to not use cap space to sign johnson and save some for the year after when josh smith is a free agent. He won't get a max contract.

after adding josh smith 2013/2014

rondo/cavs 2nd/moore
2012 1st/ray/2013 2nd
smith/pierce
drummond/KG/2012 2nd PF/C
Howard/2013 1st

Austin Rivers pulls a Jon Barry and refuses to sign with anyone and threatens to play in Russia if not traded to the celtics...

ya, dannys been collecting alot of draft picks...even on draft night getting the 2014 2nd rounder..

I feel he might package them to get into the top 10..next year and find another star to put next to rondo..

hopefully the Clippers are bad, but not bad enough to be in the top10...because then we wont get their pick..11-15 is fine though!

Aren't we assuming a bit much that Doc and Austin both want to work for the same team?  I love my Dad, but when I was twenty-something I was busy establishing myself outside the nest. Not saying it wouldn't work, just that we ought not take for granted that's an ideal match--that's up to Doc and Austin.

well Doc doesn't have the normal father/son relationship with Austin. His family lives in Orlando , so it's not like they lived together every single day until he was 18, Doc was gone a lot of the time. So I actually think it might be appealing to both .  Plus I am pretty sure Austin is a c's fan and has already said he wants to destroy Lebron James, what better place to do it? especially if he knows we are in the running to get Dwight Howard and he will have Rondo to get the ball to him.

Rondo , Rivers, Howard with 2 of the 3 bigs are just TOO MUCH for my weak heart to handle
NEXT year off season will be INSANE
Specially if for some miracle one of the rookies or bradley
pan out

Or he could be gathering these picks because he knows that you build through the draft and we only have 2 current players on our roster under 30 years old signed for next season (not inluding this years draft picks or Jeff Green).  We need to start getting young players for this team eventually, otherwise we will be in a lot of trouble.
