I like that Ainge came out and said they see him as a 4 rather than a 5.

The guy's a pogo stick. Hard to see him as a 5. On the other hand, you never know how things will pan out. Camby and Noah have pretty much his build and look just fine at the center position.

Agreed.  This kid shouldn't be a 5 for several years.  The Celtics still need more centers, but in the meantime we have definitely added much needed depth to the PF slot by drafting Johnson.

I turned it on to late, but when they were recapping what he said they made it seem like Ainge will not do anything to ruin the Celtics cap flexibility in 2012. Hopefully this doesn't prevent us from using the MLE this year.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Yup. I think they've had this plan for several years now. We'll see what will come out of it.

I fear Camby and Noah both have broad shoulders compared to Johnson.  He's got the great leaps, but you're right--he's built like dental floss.

Body wise, he kind of reminds me of Chris Johnson.  Maybe a bit more filled out, but not by much.

I was surprised how adamant he was about that.  Obviously, its all going to depend on the new CBA, but I can't imagine Danny won't use the MLE...the question is who they can get to sign to a 1 year deal.

It also did not sound good for resigning Green.  If he doesn't take the QO, then I get the feeling Danny may be letting him walk.

Nah, I think he's a lot bigger (bulk wise) than Johnson. Johnson is taller and still weighs about 20 lbs less. Body wise, he actually reminds me of our very own Roy Rogers coming out of college.

Green would be a fool not to take the QO though, no?  How many teams with legit cap space would actually give him more than the MLE(if an MLE exists).  I would assume the Celtics would match that rather quickly.  If he wants to break the bank he'll take the QO, become unrestricted after next season and then hope that someone who misses out Dwight Howard/CP3 wants to make a splash and over pays.
do it

Well, that's the question.  I think there are teams that could give him more than the MLE.  I think it would be less likely if they thought the C's would match, but if it sounds like Danny is balking at giving him a long-term deal, he could very well be given some solid offers.

Look at video of KG when he was younger, I feel like they have similar bodies. KG bulked up considerably since he came into the league. People are wary of Johnson comparisons because Johnson wasn't strong enough to guard anyone who posted him up.

Once Johnson puts on some muscle and fills out, I feel that he can be a great piece. He has put on 10lbs since before his senior season, and hopefully with the right trainers and staff around him here in Boston, he can work on getting a bigger body.

It is alot easier to put muscle on than lose weight. Think of Perk's body when he was drafted, he was overweight and by the time he left, his hard work in the gym had given him a great cut big body. All JJ needs is to put in the work.

KG and Johnson have similar bodies coming out of the draft, I would like him to eat like big baby and workout as much as Ray. haha
