SO with the Draft over (I'm pretty happy with the picks) where do the Celtics go from here. My guess is now that Boston have JaJuan Johnson and if they re-sign Jeff Green they probably won't try and trade Garnett as he is the current game Yoda of the PF position and will have a lot to teach Johnson and Green. I honestly hope Boston don't get rid of Ray Allen he is without a doubt our best (perimeter) shooter if we were to trade him shooting from outside would fall drastically and I can't see Green or Murph picking up the slack or any of the starters for that matter so that just leaves us with a Center to back up Jo-neal and another scorer the only thing is these players have to be willing to come off the bench and even if we did pick up someone who could start on another team we may get a BBD case again where he will want to "spread his wings" if its in Boston or else where, which brings me to my next point, as much as BBD has been a great player for us i think its time we let him go and try and make the most of it.

So for now who can we lure to Boston without losing anyone on our starting 5 because I honestly think that's what we have to work with that will make an impact with the rest of the bench.

-Our core 4 should still be back, then JO would be the starting C..
-BBD should be gone.. (S & T?)
-Jeff Green and Delonte should be resigned..
-JaJuan is the backup PF, and Moore would battle for backup 2..
-So that means Wafer might be gone..
-Bradley, hmmm... he might be traded coz we need a REAL PG to backup Rondo.. ( im thinking bradley for Maynor since OKC got reggie? )
-Resign Murphy and Pavlovic for depth..
-Sign a vet big (kurt thomas, sam dalembert and the like) for depth at center (and also pave the way for Dwight next season?)
-Get a wing who is a scoring machine or defensive specialist..

We're all set!

Give undrafted Greg Smith a minimum contract and see if he pans out.

  • No contaban con mi astucia !!!
Rondo,Arroyo, Bradley
Allen, Delonte,Wafer
Pierce, JGreen, Pavlovic
KG, Free Agent, Murphy
Jermaine, Free Agent

Trade one or two of the third stringers for a real player, pick the 2 free agents.

send

NBDL

Johnson
Moore     8)

So we go to pick 2 good free agents.

P.S. Right now to consider JJ the backup is one of the biggest mistakes that someone could ever commit, we need a real NBA player in a vet team no rookie mistakes there in this team to ruin everything.
Exiting yes.. efective not at all.

P.S.2. I like the restof the core if the starters can stay healthy but we need proven players (not vets) as backps to cover some posiitions.Hungry vets can help ( do you remember how good someplayers like JO ans shaq can be when healthy so we need the hunger but not that much age) (See Delotne)

I agree with you but I think its kind of slim pickings for good players that aren't old most of those players are starters or could start on a team, I think we need to send Arroyo, Murph and Davis somewhere if we can get a S&T to get another scorer, sign a free agent center and give JJ a chance later in the season.

Yes
with Arroyo i think he can help a lot with a full off season
Murphy health will probably send him other place but here
BBD is out hopefullly and thats not even on the table
We need all that you put here
and JJ will not see the light out of NBDL

Yeah, I just think come March / April we'll be going [dang] we should of traded Carlos and Murph when we had the chance.

Every player who is any good wants to spread his wings.   I think folks REALLY need to get over the Baby hatred.  He can be a solid guy off our bench.  He at times has been exactly that.  We shouldn't let him go, if we can sign him for not too much money, unless there is a really good deal.  We should DEFINITELY NOT MOVE HIM JUST TO MOVE HIM.

Mostly, this team should stand pat at this point, making minor, smart moves.  No big moves, unless they really do clearly benefit us.  We saw with Perkins what getting rid of a guy just to get rid of him accomplishes, unless the guy really is a cancer, which Davis plainly isn't.

I do agree with you, and not to be a jerk or anything, but seriously, would it have killed you to use one punctuation mark somewhere in here?

The C's need two centers...two!  JO shouldn't be depended upon to start and play 30+ minutes all season. It just will not happen.  I don't know who they can get, but they need a co-starter with JO and a backup. Maybe Murphy can be the backup, but I am not enamored with him, and hope the Celtics can do better.

Who? How? Heck if I know!  But Danny getting this part done is the key to next season, IMO.

Realistically?

...We start praying for a shortened season so we have a legitimate shot with our ancient lineup.

SO with the Draft over where do the Celtics go from here?

1) re-sign Delonte
2) Figure out Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. to do with BBD - preferably a sign-and-trade for either another big or a shooter off the bench
3) Depending on 2 - get at least one more semi-reliable 4/5 for injury insurance
4) bring back Murphy and Daniels on non-roster invites
5) fill in the roster with minimum contract guys

I gave you a TP for the tenacity of this post, since as Jay Bilas says, you cannot teach tenacity.

I also agree they need two more bigs.  Ideally one young and one old.  Perhaps they could pry Jason Thompson from Sacramento and sign Jeff Foster from Indy.

Assuming some competent players would rather sign for the minimum here rather than Chicago, Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, LA, Dallas...

Haha. I think it's a little soon to start throwing dirt on the coffin.
