I like Wafer, but chose Marquis over him as shooting guard insurance because he's more versatile.

How realistic is the Celtics resigning BBD?  ;)

I'm sure he'll get a big contract elsewhere, and the Celtics will have to settle for some MLE-type PF/C, unable to afford to resign that future HOF. Ok, I can't stand him anymore.

I think BBD is not resigning, and the Celtics won't be able to S&T him, so they probably sign another MLE veteran like they did with JO, hopefully a younger player.

Wafer & Marquis would be great, but Wafer & Pavlovic wouldn't be terrible either, as long as they resign West and Green that's a very interesting roster.

Jermaine O'Neal, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo
Delonte West, Avery Bradley, Jeff Green, DeShawn Sims
JaJuan Johnson, Courtney Sims

a veteran back-up point guard who can serve as a second-unit playmaker
the best free agent center that can be found

A scramble for the last two roster spots  (one wing, one big) between E'Twuan Moore, Stephane Lasme, undrafted free agents like Greg Smith or Ben Hansbrough, and veterans of the caliber of Sasha Pavlovic.  Troy Murphy might also be in that mix of possibilities if he can be brought back for cheap.

OP, you need another center on there.  It's almost inevitable that JO's going to miss half the season, and Baby/Troy Murphy as backups ain't going to get it done.  I haven't looked closely at the free agent lists yet, but they need to use the MLE and LLE on the best two bigs they can find (one's got to be a legit 5; don't be shocked to finally see Kwame Brown in green).

Troy Murphy, ideally he comes to camp on a non-guaranteed deal to compete for a roster spot.  I'm OK with giving him a chance, but if he's not better than he was at the end of the season, that's a wasted roster spot.

Baby Davis isn't coming back, not with all of his recent comments and certainly not with the drafting of Johnson.

My heart isn't in this like in year's past, but I'd be okay with:

Rondo/West/Bradley
Allen/Parker/Moore
Pierce/Green/Marquis
Garnett/Martin/Johnson
O'Neal/Hayes/Collins

Free agents:

Delonte -- Sign him with non-Bird rights (120% of the minimum)
Jeff Green -- Bring him back on his qualifying offer

Anthony Parker -- Sign him to the minimum
Marquis Daniels -- Sign him to the minimum
Jason Collins - Sign him to the minimum
Kenyon Martin -- Sign him with roughly 50% of the MLE
Chuck Hayes -- Sign him with roughly 50% of the MLE

If Martin and/or Hayes wouldn't sign, I'd look into bringing Troy Murphy back.

I know.. age hurts reading this team over and over again
but i think is stillthe best the franchise can put together
to dream playoffs and contention.

I'd be very happy coming out of the offseason like this.  I'm not sure that K-Mart, even with age and some decline in production, is going to be available for only half the MLE, but that's a quibble.  I bet they look at Kwame again (he's a FA, right?) as a backup 5.  Kurt Thomas (I know he's old) is another name I'd throw into the mix as well.

Priorities;

1. Pack Big Baby's bags for him.
2. Backup 5
3. Re-sign Jeff Green
4. Re-sign Delonte
5. Another backup big man

I'm not really enthusiastic about this set of players.  Parker is 36 and, I would guess, probably not available for the minimum.  I don't need to explain Daniels and his health issues.  Collins has played 104 games over the past three seasons.  K-Mart is 33 and breaking down.  Chuck Hayes is not old and not of ill health, and he can rebound, but he's still a 6'6" PF/C with no offense.

Throw in Delonte West, who is a good bet to miss a quarter of the season, and you might get a more injured team than last season.

Assuming the team's goal is to both contend next season and to preserve 2012 cap flexibility, I think we're going to have to live with flawed players.  Young, athletic, proven players without injury issues don't sign minimum or partial-MLE deals.
