Per Chris Mannix : Boston leaning towards Jeremy Tyler w/25th pick, source says.

Good news if it happens, I'm all for taking Tyler or trading the pick with our trade exception to get a young player.

I'll beat Chris (CB Chris, not Mannix) to the punch:  I don't think Mannix is well connected.  This is either a guess, or a smokescreen.

After reading this, I'm fairly certain the Celtics are *not* taking Tyler.

Hope you're wrong, Roy, but you're probably right.

But for two months now I have had the image in my head of Stern standing at the podium and saying the words "with the 25th pick in the 2011 NBA draft, the Boston Celtics select Jeremy Tyler from Tokyo Apache of the Japanese league."

It's like an endless loop that will only be exorcised when Stern finally makes his announcement of the Cs pick.

I'm hoping that they pick Tyler. Whiffs on Gerald Green and Giddens means we're due a big payoff (and I know, just as likely a bust).

Thrice the charm, just like the anti-Heat TP jinx.

Good news if this is true. Despite the question marks surrounding Tyler, he has physical tools that may have value. He displayed great leaping ability and agility at the combine despite 13% body fat and he has great measurements too. Bigs are a commodity so I think it makes more sense to take a chance on him than to take a guard or small forward. I expect Bradley and West to give us solid guard depth and Pierce and Green are manning the 3 position.
You are no longer black, or brown, or yellow, or red! You are now GREEN, you are light GREEN, or dark GREEN!

I think it's either trade the pick, or Tyler. If they trade the pick, they likely get a known commodity to replace Big Baby. If they take Tyler, they are grabbing the most valuable asset and sorting it out later. Tyler, Bradley and the Clippers pick have a chance to become a Danny Ainge "young talent" package down the road. Stockpiling assets has worked pretty well in the past.

I think if they just want a young guy with a shot at 8th or 9th man role they try to move up in the 2nd round and take someone like Jimmy Butler, Jajuan Johnson, Tyler Honeycutt, etc. At least a couple of those guys are going to slip into the 2nd, possibly the mid-2nd.

I'm interested in the rumor but not the player.

Gotta do this. This is a potential Homerun. All star potential. No one else at our position is out there like that and the #25 pick will not be the difference in getting 18 next year.

I believe the rumor too since this is exactly like us in 2008 with Deandre Jordan. Passed on him bc he was immature and we wanted a four(5) year senior who could contribute right away. Look how that worked...

I don't think Tyler will be there at 25 though.

Isn't Mannix the same guy that said Ainge had been talking about trading Rondo and then prefaced that by saying sometime within the last year(in other words it could have been before he signed his extension).

I don't trust Mannix when it comes to the C's nor do I trust A. Sherrod Blakely as I wouldn't doubt Danny uses him to hoist misinformation out to the media.

Now ESPN says CHI and MIA both talking to BOS about moving down from the #25 pick.

If Chicago wants Jackson, I'm fine moving down from #25 to #28. Chances are that Tyler or another suitable big will still be there.

If Kemba Walker drops I would trade up perhaps with the Knicks. I know we need a big, however if you are a veteran team like this never draft for need. Always take the best player available.

c's only have Rondo,Ray,PP,KG,JO and Bradley under contract. Danny has also said he is not trading 2012 draft picks to move up in this draft. So we really have no one to trade to move up in this draft. Unless someone is dying to get bradley?
