From Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports: "Kings have made it privately clear that they expect to trade 7th pick, sources say. 'They're confident they have deal,' one official says."
ESPN's Chad Ford adds this: "I'm told that ideally the Kings would like to find a way to trade this pick for a veteran."
If the Kings do end up trading this pick for a veteran, names like Kemba Walker, Brandon Knight (if he's still available at No. 7), Jimmer Fredette and Kawhi Leonard -- all names that have been listed in the mix for the Kings -- could fall past No. 7.
Smells like Raymond Felton straight up for the #7 pick to me, and its a solid move. The Kangs are 13 million under the cap as it is anyways, and they'll be further under once Dalembert comes off the books. Couple that with Donte Green/Omri Casspi/Jason Thompson/Fransico Garcia, and I think the Kings could be in a position to make some big moves.
Didn't they have a shot at Tony Parker for that pick? Because I'd prefer him to Felton.
Interesting idea. I think Felton is a better fit in theory for them, but Parker is hands down the better player. They'd be good with either, but that trade is seriously undervaluing Parker.
Depends who else is going back to San Antonio, and whether Jefferson is also going.
Plus, if Sacramento is just eating the salary, that large trade exception could be incredibly valuable for the Spurs.
Right. Jefferson is the key, but if Sacramento wants to get to the second round in the next 2 yrs, Jefferson might indeed be the key. That team could make a heck of a jump if they got both Parker and Jefferson, and if they kept Thorton.
This trade works: Omri Casspi, Fransico Garcia, Jason Thompson, #7 for Parker, Jefferson
Parker/Beano
Reke/Thorton
Jefferson/Greene
?
Cousins
That's a pretty solidly talent-laden team. I dunno about fit, but Talent? Man.
