I'm interested in seeing who celtics fans hate more.

Miami by a landslide.

To me, Kobe falling short, equaling, or exceeding MJ's ring count doesn't change my thoughts on him as an overall player (Excellent, but a far cry away from Jordan)

I don't want to see the Lakers catch the Celtics in overall titles, so I voted against Kobe.

Ugh, I just can't vote.

On one hand, if the Heat never win, it could change the apparent landscape of the NBA. They are setting the tone for the next generation, the LeBron's and Melo's and apparently Howard's. Where they don't want out of town because they are unhappy, but because they want to team up with friends. Cleveland, Denver and Orlando were/are willing to do anything for their respective stars, and were very good, each making the Conference Finals within the last few seasons. I hate all three on Miami and Riley and I would consider it sweet justice if they finish ringless.

But I can never say "I'd rather see Kobe/the Lakers win." I know Kobe is great. He can win 9 titles and he still won't be as good (or iconic) as Jordan.

The Lakers could win 8 titles and Kobe would still fall short of MJ.

I agree that Kobe will never be as iconic as Jordan but if he gets another championship under his belt i think the mass media will start pegging him as the better player. The ESPN comparisons have been non stop after the last 2 Lakers championships. I think a lot of people are rooting for Kobe to win more titles than MJ. I know my generation (18 years old) want it simply because everyone wants a player of their era to be in high regards as "the greatest of all time." fans in their sixties will tell you Russell is the greatest, fans in their thirties will tell you Jordan is the greatest. If Kobe can get one or two more titles my generation will have a valid argument that they witnesses the greatest of all time to play the game.

I think Kobe knows hes being rooted for and personally i want him to fail. I want him to fail so hard. While i deeply admire his tireless work ethic and commitment to winning i just think the guy is a scum bag. Not just a scum bag..A Laker scum bag.

Think about it..wouldnt it be awesome if Kobe, who lurked in the shadow of MJ almost his entire professional career fell 1 championship short of overtaking thy Airness. I think it would eat away at him

The Lakers could win 8 titles and Kobe would still fall short of MJ.

so your saying that if kobe plays three more years, winning championships in all three while passing MJ on the all time scoring list (which he'll do in less than 2) then there is still no question in your mind that he is the lesser player than MJ? that seems foolish to me.

I dislike Kobe (he's too g ood for me to completely hate although I try)and I am annoyed by Lebron, but hate neither. They are about the same in my book. however, Kobe is a Laker therefore only evil can come from him winning.

I went Miami but it's really a toss up.

Miami never winning would be a big deal.  Kobe's only got maybe 2-4 good years left anyway.  If he doesn't win again that's not really a surprise.  Especially the way the Lakers are currently constructed with the money and players they've got on the books.

And even if Kobe does win again it's just another small notch on his belt.  LeBron never winning a ring is a way bigger victory, as that is what all the pressure is on him to do.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Kobe can win the next five for all I care - as long as it keeps LeBron ringless

LeRoid never winning would be perfect. In fact I would trade a title to the devil for that to happen.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

As long as Kobe is a Laker, I want him to never win another title.

In fact, I wouldn't mind them finding out he cheated so bad, they take a few titles away from him.  (BCS style)

Miami, while annoying, will never be the Lakers.

but remember-if kobe wins, it means the lakers win and pass the celtics on the all time title list. i should have clarified that more.

  • And the Truth shall set you free
I voted for Kobe because in the long scheme of things, if Lebron wins 1,2,3,4, etc championships the heat will be nowhere near the Celts.  with one more ring, the Lakers will tie the Celtics.  I'm a fan of the celtics and their players, not the individuals so the team count matters more to me.

There would be something so satisfying if Lebron never won a championship.
