On SportsCenter Ric Bucher said that a team could buy a late 1st rd pick for $3 million. . . Should this be an avenue Danny considers?

Personally i think we should buy an extra pick in the first. I understand that the picks would be guaranteed for 2 years, but that doesn't hurt our cap too much. I think we could take Tyler and Leuer. Helps our odds to hit on one of them. right? At the very worst, they are trade chips next year.

Did Bucher say who might be willing to sell a 1st?

With CBA limbo in sight, we wouldn't have a precise idea on the cost of 2 late 1st rounders come summer of 2012 when we should be knee-deep in FA pursuit.  Last year's 28 and 22 picks, respectively will earn 1.1 and 1.3 million in their 2nd year.  So, anything in that range shouldn't hurt Danny's ability to be very active in free agency.  But...how much upside is there really in a late 1st round project in this year's draft?

Why exactly do you think a late first would be available for just paper?  Those picks are gonna suck.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I think Ainge would do it if Tyler or Jackson were available.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.
