I saw some rumors on realgm saying that the Lakers are trying to put together a package of Bynum and odom for Howard. I just don't see how the Magic can trade their superstar center to a franchise that stole away their last superstar center. That would just be a horrible thing for that franchise IMO. Plus I think they could do better than a package of an aging Odom and an injury prone thug like Bynum.

I think if he ends up getting traded at all it will be to a team like OKC or Houston. They could both put together better packages than the Lakers .

I just hope Howard keeps saying he want to stay with the Magic through next season so they don't trade him at all, opening the door for the c's to land him in 2012.

So what do you guys think? does the whole history of shaq leaving Orlando for LA play into the decision making of that genius Otis Smith? ;)

LA isn't trading Bynum. Bynum is their guy. Bynum and Mike Brown. new mgmt, new favorites.

They're not going to trade Howard without his agreeing to an extension, and he has made it clear that he wants to go to free agency.

(And I hope it stays that way!)

The Magic are in a pretty tight spot with where they can trade Howard, so I don't think they can afford to be too picky if the best offer comes from LA.

And as far the Lakers being high on Bynum, they would have to be high on a lot more than that to blow up a potential deal for Howard because they would have to give up Bynum.  Howard is looking like a once-in-a-generation center, while Bynum is basically Kendrick Perkins Plus.
"When I was a rookie, [Bird] and Kevin McHale were arguing.  So I asked Kevin McHale what they were arguing about.  And he says, 'we're just trying to figure out who you're going to guard.'  I said, 'what you mean?' and he said, 'oh, you're dead meat, rook.'" - Charles Barkley

it sounds like a crazy question ; but Orlando's GM was just on the Herd with Colin Cowherd last week saying how the city still hasn't recovered from losing Shaq.

Don't do it, Orlando!!!

Were any of the current management group in Orlando around when Shaq left?  I don't beleive they were, although I have no idea about the owner.  If they weren't, then why would they take it personal (could see them being aware of public perception if a trade was made involving LA though).

Either way, it's bad business to allow emotions to affect business decisions.  Orlando would be doing themselves a disservice if they allow that to happen.  Then again, wasn't Otis Smith's ties to Gilbert Arenas part of the reason they trade for him?  Maybe this isn't out of the realm of possibilities for their management, and would be fine by me.  I do not want to see Howard in LA.

I predict DH12 will get traded to his preferred destination just as Melo did this past year.  Whether that is LAL I'm not sure.  ORL lost Shaq for nothing.  I doubt they'd let DH12 walk for the same, even if it means dealing him to LAL.  The part that stings is the "nothing" in return part, not so much what team Shaq went to.  Just imagine what ORL could have received for Shaq if they were willing to deal him.

i agree wholeheartedly with you. DH12 is the best center in the league and any GM should trade for him provided he sign the extension. But i would be shocked if they traded away Bynum because Bynum is Jim Buss' guy.
