Love him? Hell no.

Tolerate him?  Hell yes.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Of course,
he'd be a celtic.
Gotta have his back and respect the fact that he would get us closer to banner 18.

I also feel that Lebron looks up to Wade because he has the championship and Wade is the bigger prima donna on the Heat team.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Would I love him.  No.  Would I love having him in green.  Yes!!!  Anyone who says otherwise is really just being stubborn.  As previous posters have said, we have all gladly cheered Ricky Davis, Rasheed, and Marbury and now we all want Dwight Howard who is the ultimate cheap shot artist on the court.

Lebron is a good guy who never gets into any real trouble.  He is a big kid who has been coddled since he was in his teens and told he was the best and it has affected his self awareness.  That can be fixed with the right people around him.  The right coach.  Doc would do wonders for Lebron.

Lebron's lack of self awareness led him to make a terrible decision with the Decision show and leads him to say some strange things in his press conferences, but in his heart, I really don't think he comes from a bad place.  Often, I think he has problems choosing the right words to get out what he is saying which is what happened with the whole "Everyone has to go back to their problems" comment.  When he said that, I knew exactly what he was trying to say, but I also knew that most people would take it the wrong way.

Now D-wade...I agree...that guy is 3 years older than lebron and has really become the bigger punk in my opinion.  Cheap shots, stupid comments, and bad decisions.  With that said...if he were in green, I would root for him too.

Prior to this past year, I would have been fine with it.  It wasn't even "The Decision" that turned me off -- I thought it was a stupid thing to do, but felt it was more the brainchild of a bad PR person than LeBron.  I felt Gilbert was absolutely in the wrong with his reaction to James leaving, and while I understand Cleveland fans being upset that he left, I didn't understand the animosity shown towards someone who wanted to win a championship, and even left a little on the table to get that opportunity.  So often in sports we see players vilified for wanting money first, and winning second.

But as the year went on, it became clear to me why everyone was actually miffed at Lebron's free agency drama, and that was the ego-stroking he seemed to need, all the time.  He loves being the center of attention, but only when people are praising him.  If he gets questioned about his decision-making, he snaps back.  If things go poorly on the court, and he blames others for wanting him to fail.  He doesn't win a championship, and all the little people should be little people.  The ego is massive, probably the biggest in all of sports.  The constant need for adulation is even more massive.  I just don't think I could watch the Celtics if he were in Green.  Because it wouldn't be the Celtics anymore, or the Green.  It would just be Lebron.

I'd treat him like I treated Sheed and JO. Skeptical until proven otherwise.

I would obviously defend him against bashers, but would inside dislike him just as much as I do now.

I would cheer for him, but I would never fully embrace him.  Between his act, and what appears to be a lack of interest in doing what is best for his team (learning to play in the post, etc.), I just would never be able to truly enjoy it.

I wouldnt be too happy about it. But I would certainly cheer for him. I would be extremely critically towards his flaws however. And extremely joyous about his good doings.

Anyone else think its strange how we're describing our 'love' for a player, or how we're going to 'fully embrace him', or 'kiss his face until he tells us to stop, than kiss him some more'?

Out of context, its a little weird, right?

Marbury is actually a great guy off the court (he does all sorts of tremendous charity work), my disdain for him was because of his game, not his character.

FWIW, LeBron does a ton of charity off the floor too, especially in Akron.

I would love LeBron here.

 A. He's the best player in the league.

B. Has anyone ever heard a teammate say that he's a bad teammate? For the most part, his teammates have always loved him, from my understanding.

C. He works hard off the court. His game has improved monumentally since his rookie year. Are there holes? Yes, but they've lessened over the years (ie. shooting and defense). He's always in phenomenal shape.

D. Guys in the last four years who I've rooted for who had more off-the-court character issues: Posey, Marbury, Sheed, Tony Allen, Jermaine O'Neal

I would root for him and hope that the Celtics will be the first team that stands up to him and make him mature as a player.
