What is he thinking by drafting jackson( don't take that in a bad way) ?

I know avery is staying, and if jackson is drafted I think he's going with small faster lineups. could he be looking for another Sf tayshaun prince maybe. If he does its like he's looking to build to beat the heat. which my guess he's giving up on any good centers signing here this offseason.

Glen davis may stay with us after all. But like doc said "we can't overpay"

Fast line-up

Rondo/west/bradley
West/bradley/jackson
Prince/quis/FA
Green/FA/2nd rnd
Davis/FA/2nd rnd

Glen Davis in a fast lineup??

And how are you so sure Bradley is staying?

And Prince is old.

I have a feeling that if Danny drafts this Jackson kid, Avery is going to be a part of a trade with BBD, maybe some picks to partially address our problems at the 4/5 if BBD wont sign back with the C's..maybe we could work out a trade with New orleans...carl landrys gonna be a free agent in 2011.

  • Rondo = Good
His plan is to be as competitive as possible next year without compromising the cap space we'll have next summer and moving forward.  There's really not much else he can do.

In other words: bridge year.

In this league, you don't just have one plan. And that is because of the 29 other teams and the other various variables that exist all of the time.

Just as an example, Jeff Green's situation could lead us off into multiple directions depending on whether other teams knock him off of his seat with an offer sheet. And even that is dependent on what the heck the guidelines are even going to be with the CBA moving forward.

This is what I like about Ainge. He seems to be very flexible and goes with whatever he feels the best path is at the moment. There is no clear cut plan he is following.

He's going to grab us a couple more spare-part bigs and one wing player with the MLE...that's still good for 45 wins possibly and then it gets real interesting

if there's a lockout he probably rolls the dice with what we have, hope the players avoid injuries and that the fatigue that plagued them against the Heat won't re-appear in a shortened season (IF there's a season).

if there's no lockout, I hope he finds players who can play now and who can spell the big 3.

of course there's no way to know so I can see why he'd be seriously considering jackson who would likely be the best talent available at that point.

I wonder if he'd target guys like 'quis or josh howard who will likely have to take 1 year deals

and who can we trade avery for? Its a 2man draft anybody after that needs development, and who could we possibly get by trading glen davis and avery bradley dats going to fix our problem with our lack of bigs... do u know what college teams do when they don't have bigs they play small ball get use to it Cuz our second unit will be a small one

problem is that the trade is before the lockout deadline so we have another problem of working out what's going to happen.
I guess Danny's got a lot of insider info as to what will happen 8 days later after the draft but it's still a pain in the ass.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Yes, let's plan on going from top 3-5 team to fringe playoff team without losing any of our core pieces. That's likely.

you really think Danny is going to go light on what could be the final season of the Big 3?

I mean, a bridge to what exactly?

The team that played down the stretch of last season wouldn't have won 45 games.  So taking Baby and Kristic out of that equation and Im actually saying we're going to improve on that

Oh, so your expectations are based on Rondo playing like that for the entire season? And the team will spend the entire year trying to integrate newly acquired players? Again, unless more injuries strike, pretty unlikely.

Well, I don't think we can take a rumor from a random writer as a basis to assume Danny plans to have both Bradley and Jackson in a week.  But even if it is true, I don't think there is a definitive plan.  If Danny really does like Jackson that much, I think it will be a case of him wanting the best player available.

Danny built this team by collecting assets, and then trying to develop them until he could cash them in for basketball players.  And I imagine that is what he will continue to do now, and start doing more that they are moving closer to the end of their "window".

While in the window, he really needed to put more attention towards trying to field a championship team, while also trying to develop assets on the side (mostly unsuccessfully IMO).  But now, I think he will start to put a little more emphasis on those assets, now that the team is really in transition again.

So, when he drafts guys, he isn't going to be asking as much about "what can they do for us", but rather "who is likely to build value".

I think that was his thinking when he drafted Avery, that is why he wanted the Clippers pick in the Perk trade, and I imagine that is the reason he would be interested in someone like Jackson in this draft.
