So what pieces/players are the Miami Heat dumping/chasing for next year?

I hate this team and I'm so happy they lost to the Mavs.
Not specifically Lebron and Wade or Bosh- but the 3some factor of these guys ganging up in their prime with little notice for anyone to prepare.

Now they've blown their chance to win a title with the surprise element. Which players do they have to dump, and which players do they subsequently have to go after in order to nurture this black+red beast of a roster?

I think they're keeping:
*Wade
*Lebron
*Bosh
*Haslem
*Anthony (unless he's traded for a better big in a deal).
*Chalmers (although I think Lebron and more-so Wade, sometimes have a problem with his immaturity/attitude.)
*Jones

& they are letting go/probably dumping

*Bibby
*Howard
*Dampier (for sure)
*Eddie House

But who are they going after and which players would fit perfectly for them and get them over the hump?

Their needs are obviously PG and Center.

The first problem with Miami going foward is that they've only got 6 contracts of any significance and Wade, Bron, Bosh, Miller, Haslem and Anthony are all signed for at least 3 more years.  Unless they can find someone willing to part with an borderline all-star for Miller, Haslem and Anthony, Miami's trading options are almost entirely dependent on shipping out one of the Not Yet Big 3.

The second problem is that, after the way they went down in the Finals, ring-chasing vets are not necessarily going to look at Miami as a sure thing next year.  I'll be very surprised to see anyone do anything like what Bibby did and leave millions of dollars on the table to sign with Miami.

Add to that the restructuring of the CBA.  relatively few first round picks (although I am liking their second this year).  

I think haslem and chalmers probably have the most trade value of their non all stars.  

The fact is, they are a porrly constructed team.  Three of the best four players play the wing, and the fourth is a four that wants to play like a wing.  Would have been better with amare instead of lbj.

I think the big goal for Miami will be surrounding Wade and Bosh with another player or two who can rise to the occasion in the Finals. Those two can't do it alone.

Yes but I believe House was scored on nearly 4 or 5 possessions in a row for one stretch. House/Bibby playing at the PG position is just a disaster for your defense.

Their cohesion was underrated and to get to a game 6 of the Finals in all close games shows they are close. I'd consider a James for Dwight deal real long, though.

Miami should sign Delonte West. He'd be a perfect role player point guard for that team.

Can't take full credit for this but a trade I would do is one Jason Whitlock suggested over at FaxSports: Lebron James to Orlando for Dwight Howard.

Then you get a coach in there that can set up a system to utilize the defensive AND offensive strengths a Wade/Bosh/Howard trio brings and now you can have your one alpha male with the ball in his hands all the time with a stretch 4 and a beast down low.

No matter how much sense it might make for both teams, there's no way for that deal to happen.

First, it would require Riley to publicly admit that he was wrong.
Second, doing the trade would publicly humiliate LeBron worse than any all-time great player has ever been humiliated by a GM.
Third, Howard would have to agree to take less money than he could otherwise get.

That I would do ... although I would immediately try to move Chris Bosh for better supporting pieces.

I don't like how he fits with a Dwight Howard type of player (low post scorer / limited offensive range).

I would.  might have to throw in a few pieces to match the contracts and talent but if I'm Miami, I'd keep Wade over Bron based on his playoff performance and the fact he's been the face of the franchise.  A Bron and change deal that reels in Howard and Jameer would be extremely hard to pass up.

Bron has shown he's a mercenary with no loyalty.  He's a top talent but has yet to produce in a Finals.  Wade has shown he can rise to the occasion (though not in that last game in the last quarter with those turnovers).
