If you guys could have any player this off season, who would it be?
Note-Keep the dreams slightly realistic. Its not like the C's will be able to get someone like Lebron or Nowitzki

I'll start off with Josh Smith. Excellent defender, rebounder, and mediocre shooter. Lethal on the fast lane, one of the most athletic players in the league. Great hustle, high energy. He's probably one of the most under-utilized players in the league, and could easily put up 20-23 ppg next to Rondo

I don't think Josh Smith is anymore realistic than Dirk/LeBron sadly. Atlanta will want a high level talent for him, and all of our high level talent is too old. (except Rondo)

Meanwhile trading Rondo for Josh Smith doesn't make much sense, it doesn't put us any closer to rebuilding.

J.R. Smith. My dream 6th man for this team

Who knows, maybe it's not unfeasible. He could take the MLE but he knows he knows he's worth probably around 8-9 mill a year. That would be rad if he took a discount to play on a championship caliber team but it probably won't happen.

True, but the thought of Josh Smith, Rondo and Howard on the fast break and on D....

This question makes no sense; pipe dream by definition is not realistic.  Guys like JR Smith and Josh Smith are in positions to get the biggest/richest contracts of their careers.  No way they're coming here for the MLE.

When did JR Smith become so overrated? No way in hell is he worth more then the MLE. 8 or 9 Mill per? You can't be serious. He's a inconsistent one dimensional low percentage shooting no defense playing immature cancerous dumb dumb. You don't give 8 mill to one dimensional scorers who can't crack 18 ppg and are non-starters. The guy barely cracked 20 minutes in the play-offs.

O.J. Mayo

He's coming off his worst season with the Grizzlies and they were basically ready to give him away at the trade deadline. He averaged 18 points as a rookie and 17 in his sophomore year on very good shooting percentages. IMO, he's a starter in this league who just needs a change of scenery and the right team. He also said he enjoyed playing with Rondo when he was a part of team U.S.A last summer.

To me it would be someone like Andrew Bogut or Greg Oden. A big man who has underperformed (read: been injured or in bad conditions) so far, who would grow immensely on a team where defense is preached, and with a point guard like Rondo.

I'd put someone like Josh Smith on the list of players I'd like the least to see with Rondo (Hence, see in green). Unlike Rondo, who's probably equally as bad a shooter, this guy does not strike me as an intelligent player (on offense). His shot selection is horrendous, and on a team where the point guard can't shoot, everyone else should be able to. Smith may shoot a lot, but from what I've seen, his shot is definitely a weakness.

My ideal scenario is still a trade of Rondo and filler (Davis, JO, whatever) for Chris Paul and Okafor.

I'll roll the dice to try to resign Paul (as I think they will make it very beneficial for him to resign on the new CBA), and that puts us right back near the top of list of favorites for the championship next year.

Agree, I wouldn't want Smith without his high school buddy.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale
