How to limit Pierce's minutes

This is exactly what I'd do.

I will not trust Doc Rivers to do the job. Instead, if I were DA, I'd have one of the assistant coaches carry a stopwatch and click on/off for every time Pierce gets on the court.

When the clock strikes 24 mins, Pierce is automatically benched. During the regular season, no exceptions are made, period  >:( ! Yes, a few games will be lost in the process, however, Doc needs to learn how to manage his rotations.

Then, Doc will realize that he'll need to really cut down Pierce's first two quarter mins so that he can contribute at least half to 3/4s of either the third or the fourth quarter.

Try explaining this to Pierce.  He might kill somebody if you take him out of the fourth quarter of a close game because 'he reached 24 minutes'.

Also, I thought that Pierce's minutes were generally handled well this year.  24 minutes is just unnecessarily strict.  If he's in the 30-34 range, I'm content with the number of minutes he's playing.

24 minutes would be suicide, especially since during the regular season we were +10.2 w/ him on the court and -6.2 with him off the court (per game).  The East is tough now and the way the games are called, home court is important. 

I think you could play 28-32 a night and that would be fine.  A huge drop off from the 35 he played this season.  We all know he is going to have to play 35+ in the playoffs.  If he is averaging 24 minutes a night during the regular season, he's not going to be able to handle the sudden increase in minutes.............

I'd like to see Paul, Ray and Rondo play 33-34 minutes a game with Garnett down around 30-32 minutes a night.

Paul can play at least 30-33 mpg, we don't wanna end up in a battle for 6-7th seed. He is our most durable player, but I would sit him down last 3-5 games to catch a breath.

Until I see a serious dropoff in Pierce's play, I disagree.

  Doc's talked in the past about players like PP and RA needing more than 25-30 minutes a game just to stay in rhythm.

Ray and Paul played 36.1 and 34.7 MPG respectively. KG played 31 minutes per game. Doc rides them too hard. To get in rhythm, they could devise better warm ups for them at the half and pre-game so they can get in rhythm.

25-30 per game is not too bad, but anything significantly above that will add up.

24 is a pretty significant drop-off.

Id be pleased if Ray and Pierce were at 30mpg...with that said, we have no quality players coming off the bench other than Delonte so it really isn't even an option
