I gotta believe the Sixers will want/get more in exchange than an expiring contract for Iggy.

Would be a great move for the Clips, though, if they could bring back DeAndre Jordan as well. Ridiculous athleticism in their starting five.

I don't think Phily views Chris Kaman as just an expiring contract. They would be interested in his talent as a legitimate starting caliber center. One who put up 18.5ppg + 9.5rpg a year ago and made the All-Star team.

Ideally, they want to bring a quality big man back in return for Andre Iguodala. It sounds like Kaman is one of those players that they are evaluating.

Iggy would be a great third wheel to add to Blake Griffin and Eric Gordon. Complements them very nicely.

It would be nicer if one of E.Gordon or A.Iguodala were a superior player though. Both are third best players on a title team type of talents. Puts a fair bit of pressure on their fourth + fifth players to make up for their lack of top tier talent at that second best player slot.

True. But would Philly re-up Kaman?

I thought Brand had moved to C for them? If he moves back to PF, then does Thad Young become their SF?

If they traded Iggy for him, I think they would.

They would be planning on keeping him for the next 4-5 years. Kaman is only 29 years old (a recently turned 29).

This only makes sense if the Wolves 2012 pick is also going to Philly.  If it is though, I love this trade for both teams.

Philly saves some cash, adds some size (which they really need) and gets a prime asset (to perhaps package with expiring contracts at the deadline).  Its decent value for Iggy.

And for the Clippers, it really gives them a heck of a young core going forward, and, with some of those guys taking steps forward this year, could have one of the better starting lineups in the West with Williams, Gordon, Iggy, Griffin, and Jordan.

Elton Brand played most of his minutes at the PF position and some of his minutes at the C position. About three fifths of his time at PF and two fifths at C.

Largely because they didn't have any big man talent outside of Brand + to take advantage of T.Young's ability to play both forward positions.

As far as EGor goes, I think he's one of the more underrated players in the league.  With a legit #1 option - which Blake seems to be - I'd have no problem going to war with Gordon as my 2nd banana.  He's an excellent scorer who complements Iggy very well on the perimeter (as you pointed out), and he's a good defender when he puts the effort in despite being a tad undersized.

A modern day version of Joe Dumars

Edit: Not comfortable with that wording. Joe hasn't been retired long enough for "modern day version". Current day. Today's version. I don't know. It'll do. Eric Gordon is similar to Joe Dumars in terms of value.

Yeah, and it is just a nice combination.  Griffin is the interior presence, Gordon and Williams are their shooters, Iggy plays point forward, and is the slasher, and Jordan cleans up the garbage.

The interesting thing about Iggy too, is that even though he is not a great scorer, he is a good closer.  He hits shots when they matter, so you can feel comfortable with the ball in his hands down the stretch, kind of like the C's do with Pierce.  Allow him to decide whether to shoot it, or to swing it to one of his shooters.

If I were talking about winning a Championship, I would be more concerned with Griffin as my #1 than Eric Gordon as my #2.

I think its other teams adjusting (or thinking about it) to miami's athletic team.  We are going to see 70's running basketball come back, good defense, rebound and run.  There aren't (m)any low post dominate big men in the nba now.

I don't think B.Griffin is ready to be that player just yet but he only just finished his rookie year. He seems to be hard-working guy who is dedicated to improving his game and particularly his defense. As he shores up his D and refines his scoring, I think he'll become a capable first chair to a Title Contender.
