The Celtics should totally sign him for another year. I know he has been horrid last season but he hasn't played for months and the summer camp could help.

It would be amazing if he makes a comeback. Baby's match up problem against bigger guys will be solved. There will be much more depth at the center spot. The roster will be taller. Plus, he can play like a 6'11 guard.

I'd take him for vet min or possibly LLE.  But I suspect he'll command much more than that if he's chasing the money.

Not really fair to say he had a bad year when he was hurt, and pretty much locked out by the NJN.

I'd certainly invite him to camp. But he hasn't shown enough as a Celtic for a guaranteed spot.

One year deal without using the MLE or LLE, yes.

I would sign him.  This is his "re-establishing his value" year.  His chance to earn that last large contract.

I'd want two defensive minded centers on the roster before I considered relying on Troy Murphy as a regular rotation player. Jermaine O'Neal can be one of those two defensive C's. Not sure who the other guy will be.

Then use Troy Murphy in that BBD role where he'd get 16-20 minutes a night. At least during the regular season. Maybe a reduction in the playoffs depending on how much defensive play from the bigs where required.

Be interesting to see whether he gets anything more than a nonguaranteed camp invite for this coming season.  He looked DONE in the few minutes he played.  I'm not terribly comfortable committing a roster spot to him, but I'm not sure if any team will be.

With that said, if it was just lingering injuries and he can get healthy, he could still be a contributor.  Just hard to know how much of his bad play was things we can count on to get better.

Too soft. Based on his play with the Nets and Celtics last year, he appears done.

A prime Troy Murphy could have helped us this year and beyond with his shooting and rebounding. But he is on the brink of being done barring some epic revival.

I'd be for it, unfortunately he was eaten by Davis so this is a moot point.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

Mike Bibby is no bargain either ...

Playoffs: 28% FGM, 27% 3pt FGM, 37%eFG, 9 for 41 on spot up jumpers ... Heat are a -28 with him on the floor.

Perhaps the last FA who signed at the deadline to make a splash in the post season was PJ Brown?????

Murphy is still a good rebounder and probably presents the Celtics' best hope of having a strong rebounder coming off the bench.  If his shooting gets back to mediocre and he shows some ability to play team defense, he can certainly contribute.
