Frankly, the complaining about officiating is ridiculous. I caught the second half of this game, and if Boston were playing Dallas, and Dallas got half the calls they got in this game, this message board would shut down. The refs were absolutely the only reason Dallas was still in this game, calling an incredible number of ticky-tacky 50/50 touch fouls against Miami, allowing Dallas to get into the bonus and shoot unearned free throws that kept the game close, while ignoring blatant contact on Dallas's defensive end. It was terrible, and Dallas EASILY got the benefit of contact/no contact calls. No contest.

That is what it is. But are you not sick of LeBron getting to walk all over the court? He travels the most of any player. He traveled at the end of the game right before he attempted a game clinching three. He literally travels six or seven times a game that go uncalled. What does that have to do with whether fouls are called. Just call the travels. It's ridiculous. Either that, or just officially change the rules to allow James to take three steps.

Considering this play http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvxIazBszYs&feature=related I think I have a right to be a little envious / bitter regarding LeBron and his constant blatant traveling.

Well he only takes four steps on that play. That's not a travel for James.

I know everyone travels, but LeBron is the worst. For those of us who really appreciate basketball, watching this guy take three steps down the lane and dunk it ruins the credibility of the game.

It seems to me that the people who "really appreciate basketball" seem to understand the traveling rules less than they think they do.

Ironically, most of what people think are travels really aren't. On the other hand, there's a traveling violation committed on virtually every trip down the court caused by players:
1) shuffling their feet
2) catching the ball while moving and taking several steps before stopping and establishing their pivot foot

So yeah, Lebron has gotten away with a couple of travels, but probably not the ones you're thinking of.
You're correct, those 2 things happen.

But those don't affect the game at all.  They don't allow the player to gain an advantage.  If you can't see that LeBron gets away with travels that other players don't get away with then you don't seem to understand traveling rules as much as you think you do.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

LeBrons been doing it for years and haven't been stopped yet so I don't see it being stopped now.

if Dallas made half of its open looks, this game wouldn't even have been close.

oh, and LBJ does travel a lot. i wish Rondo could get away with something like that. that way, he can take a layup if they leave him from the 3-point line

Yup ... the NBA's officiating staff has already set precedent with LeBron and his stupid "Crab Dribble", (and other travelling offenses) ... I can't see them changing their habits now or ever, unfortunately. I'd love to have him tested for anabolics, too.

what you would need is a concentrated effort from everyone else
lebron travels
all the opposing players make the travelling sign and basically stop everything, coaches do it
everyone complains about it to media

It's disgusting. I can only watch these games for short spurts. Between Leroids "walking" all over the rule book to Wade's facial expressions after a dunk or and 1, I want to vomit. Roid gets away with more bs than Shaq did in his day. I wish I didn't love Boston so much because I would love to stop watching this league until stern is gone.

I find it a bit ridiculous when people say the Mavs had their chance and basically have to play through the refs. One team has to play flawless while another one gets to cheat, that sounds fair.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

When I played D1 high school basketball, absolutely no one got away with traveling. It just blows my mind that LeBron can take not three, but sometimes 4 STEPS to the basket without a whistle.

Traveling is simply not that hard to call. You don't even have to be in that great of position to get the call right, unlike a lot of other calls.

The traveling precedent was set with Jordan...And all of the rest of the garbage calls/non calls that a handfull of players benefit from today.

They've just quadrupled-down with the messiah.
