Previously on Red's Army ... the availability of Josh Smith (owed $25m over 2 years).

Atlanta over the cap ($66m) undoubtedly will let Crawford walk. They're set with Horford/Pachulia, have a nice PG duo (Teague/Hinirich) and are married to JJ's immovable contract. No one's buying Marvin Williams (owed $24m over 3 years), so would they consider moving Smith? The timing may never be better.

Atl. will have a hard time getting equal value straight up ... D. Lee or perhaps Scola. Forget Bynum, Alridge, Zebo, Boozer and Bosh.

Would they nibble at a S/T package featuring Green/Davis + 2011 #1, or #2? They could resign Kristic and perhaps use the biannual on Hayes -- giving him the option to renew or test the market the following year. Then use the MLE for another wing player or spilt it among two.

JO/Kristic/Hayes
KG/Smith

Smith off the bench 30+/night is something to ponder. He's an enigma on some nights, but what a partner he'd make for RR in transition.

Sounds like a stretch, but I'd be more than pleased if we could get Smoove without having to give up any of the core four.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I would LOVE to have J Smoove on the Celtics. He will work well with Rondo. They went to the same high school and play somewhat similar.

He blocks shots, can score in the paint and extremely athletic.

I'm willing to give up Green and Baby for him alone =).

Maybe I'm bias because Josh Smith is my favorite player outside the Celtics

I'm not a fan of his game. But if he can be had for peanuts, sure, why not?

I don't understand why they would want to move Smith nor have I heard his name mentioned in any trade rumors.  Also, he's from College Park, GA, don't think that one would go over too well with the fan base........

I think Atlanta will try to move Smith, but not for spare parts.  They'll want to bring a third all-star to pair with Johnson and Horford and try to make the leap to contention.

I think Josh Smith is an excellent free agent target for 2013 (assuming Pierce retires).  An old teammate of Rondo's and a great fast-break weapon.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

I can see him in the future here if it happens. Also as many stated he was on the same team as Rondo in highschool and they did play together. Oh and as an added bonus for the Dwight fans to come to Boston him and Josh are if I'm correct pretty close friends. Dwight was his best man at his wedding.

Rondo/Smith/Howard would be a terrific fast break team and potentially one of the best defensive teams.  Would definitely need some shooters on the wing though.

That would be a great core moving forward (and exactly the type of athletic team that Danny wants), but yikes on outside shooting. Allen should be able to play forever, though. Salary cap restrictions certainly make this nearly impossible without giving up Pierce at some point.

After CP3 and D12 and MArc Gasol.

Josh Smith is a EXCELLENT choice , Crawford isn't bad  either., the C's need a Crawford who can come off the bench and knock down a shot or two.

Atlanta is ripe for picking.  Would love to have Horford as a PF on the Celtics .

We need the energy and youth to counter the HEAT.

youre talking 1 year from now to "try" to get dwight and smith. In 2 years all the big 3 cap comes off and we can sign them a lot less IF we manage to get them 2.

For some odd reason i think our chances of getting Josh Smith is higher than Dwight =\

I think the prevailing thought is that Atlanta would trade Smith only to get a legit C to allow Horford to move to PF.

As flawed a roster they have, Atlanta did have a nice series win vs. Orlando. I liked the Hinrich trade for them quite a bit.

I wonder if Phoenix might be a decent trade partner: Gortat and Warrick for Smith? Would give Atlanta some good talent, flexibility and depth in the frontcourt (Horford/Warrick and Gortat/Pachulia). Phoenix would have a high-profile name to rebuild around, should they move Nash this coming year.

I only see Smith moved for a starting C to allow Hortford move over to PF.

I could see Josh Smith to Cleveland for Sideshow and the number 4 pick.

That'd be interesting. Would Hickson then move to C?

Yes, this. Atlanta will only move Josh Smith for a star caliber talent.

They are not trying to get rid of him. They are trying to upgrade their talent.
