I would take either Smith or Affalo. Would probably prefer Afflalo but I really do like what Smith brings to the table. I think both would be out of our price range.

MLE needs to be reserved for big men.

The Celtics have two under contract.

Afflalo and Chalmers are examples of solid hard working college players from good programs who have continued to hone their craft and become major contributes.

Chalmers has had a very shaky pro career so far in MIA.  He's really playing out of necessity since MIA has no other options, and his position has always been considered a need meaning MIA would prefer to upgrade him.

He's just playing on a winning team right now and getting credit due to the "winning" part.  The C's made guys like House and Posey look like "great role players" when they were here, but after they left everyone forgot about them.

Afflalo on the other hand is a very serviceable player.  He'll likely land a long term contract with a siginficant dollar total given his age and breakout year.

I agree.  I think Afflalo is very similar to Mikael Pietrus.  He will likely recieve a similar deal, at about the full MLE, if not from Denver, than from a contender.  And, he will likely be one of those guys who will be looked at as being paid right about what he is worth.  He won't improve a ton and be a bargain, but he also won't become an end of the bench guy, and become a bad contract like Posey.
