Give this guy the full MLE, or try and work out a sign and trade for him... love the way this guy plays, and he is the perfect compliment for this team... young, can shoot, and plays great defense... and he is such a hard worker too..

Rondo, Afflalo, and Green is a nice little trio IMO

Afflalo would be a great roleplayer..but I think the full MLE might be overpaying for a limited roleplayer, and at the same time he's a restricted FA, so Denver would easily match that offer for a guy they've had starting 90% of the games the last 2 years.

Agreed. Great player and a hard worker. I'm not sure about the full MLE but definitely intrested. Part of the LLE sounds good to me. Of course that woud be a steal. I doubt that Denver lerts Smith and Afflalo walk though.

I think there's a chance they let Smith go. He's kind of erratic. Afflalo, on the other hand, has become a solid player and I doubt he's going anywhere.

Unfortunately I also approve this one

JR Smith is certainly expendable especially if Denver plans on extending Nene and resigning K. Mart. Afflalo is a 3-pt. marksman (42%) and he's much better defensively ... although JR has the tools to become a decent defender (won't happen in Denver). He never have a high USG rate since the ball is dominated by Felton and Lawson. But he will be extended and stay a Nugget. Celts could, and should use the MLE to target JR or perhaps explore the S/T with Davis or Kristic given the potential outgoing contracts involving Denver's front line.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Although I think this guy is very overrated, he's still a great role player.
I just can't see the Nuggs giving him up unless he's way overpaid somewhere else.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Too early in the retooling process to be acquiring expensive (MLE money) role players.

TP for the OP,I agree with most of your assessment of A.Afflalo except im not sure about the price. From the eyeball test he's second only to D.Rose in players that has taken their games to the next step(level)from one season to the next.(imo)

It would be interesting to see.  While I think Denver might match it, that could be just enough to call their bluff.

I think Denver might be looking at having to choose between Afflalo and Chandler this summer, and I could see them going with Chandler because of his more versatile offense to put next to the Italian kid who is mostly just a shooter.

I do agree though that the full MLE might be a little rich for Afflalo, at least given the C's situation.  While he is very good, he is just a roleplayer, and I think you could get 85% of his production for 1/3 or less of that money.  And, since the C's are going to be looking at rebuilding soon, that extra savings could be more important than having a roleplayer like that locked up.

Afflalo and Chalmers are examples of solid hard working college players from good programs who have continued to hone their craft and become major contributes. Danny passed on both Chalmers and Afflalo and while Afflalo has taken longer to develop that the C's had tome for. There are similar players available in this draft that can help the C's. Nolan Smith could be a Chalmers type player if he can develop a reliable outside game. Afflalo is a solid player; but is not the explosive athlete that the C's need. So would not over spend on a role player.

I agree, both about the draft, and about those players being guys you can find in general, and generally for less money.

With both Chalmers and Afflalo the ability to develop a three point shot is what made the difference. Does Avery Bradley have this ability? You need steady nerves and good mechanics. Bradley is not a steady player. Could not believe when Danny passed on Chalmers.
