If each owner could place their profile here I think that would make things easier for panelists to view the teams.

Profiles will be due by Tuesday June 7th at 12:00 PM EST.

Panelists will then be able to read them and ask any questions of you about your team in this thread until Wednesday 9:00PM EST.

I will send out PMs to the panelists at that time and team awards will be announced on Thursday at noon. Voting for players of era(in this case all-time) will begin on Thursday June 9th and continue for a week or so.

The panelists who will be reviewing teams and asking questions, if they wish, starting at noon on Tuesday, June 7th until Wednesday at 9:00 PM June 8th are:

Edgar
Donoghus
IndeedProceed
Kwhit10
samantha28

THIS THREAD IS OPEN TO PANELISTS AND OWNERS FOR COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS TO THE TEAM OWNERS!!

MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES

(last EDIT 10:20am on June 7 to alter rotation and minutes)

I have not entered in the particular years stats, I'm considering doing that.  The reason is, whatever stats that may have been produced in that season really have no bearing on how the player will perform in this situation as teammates are just so much better, roles are so much different, and minutes are greatly reduced.  There certainly are some things that can be gleaned, and I have obviously chosen better seasons from the players on the team, but the fact that McAdoo scored 34.5 points a game in 74-75 just doesn't matter.  What does matter is that his mid range game, especially that year, was among the best in history.

Coach - Arnold Auerbach

Starters
PG - Chris Paul (2008-09)
SG - Paul Pierce (2001-02)
SF - Lebron James (2009-10)
PF - Bob McAdoo (1974-75)
C - Moses Malone (1982-83)

Bench
G - Hal Greer (1966-67), Gail Goodrich (1971-72), Alvin Robertson (1985-86)
F - Billy Cunningham (1969-70), Bobby Jones (1976-77), Kevin Love (2010-11), Kiki Vandeweghe (1983-84)
C - Brad Daugherty (1991-92)

Awards/Titles from years chosen
MVP - James, Malone, McAdoo
DPOY - Robertson
Championship - Malone, Greer, Goodrich
Finals MVP - Malone
1st team All NBA - James, Malone, McAdoo, Cunningham
2nd team All NBA - Paul, Greer, Robertson
3rd team All NBA - Pierce, Daugherty
1st team All Def - James, Malone, Paul, Jones
2nd team All Def - Robertson
All Star - entire team

Expected Rotation (I have included all 13, though if 12 Vandeweghe would be in a suit against most teams)

PG - Paul 38, Goodrich 10, Robertson 0
SG - Pierce 33, Greer 15, Robertson 0
SF - James 38, Cunningham 10, Jones 0/Vandeweghe 0 (situational Jones for defense, Vandeweghe for offense)
PF - McAdoo 30, Jones 12, Love 6
C - Malone 38, Daugherty 10, McAdoo 0

Essentially on the offensive end, I expect the team to run through James.  Pierce and Paul are both excellent 3 point shooters.  McAdoo has perhaps the best mid range game in history and Malone is superb down low.  It won't look quite as much like the Heat, as there will be some definite pick and rolls added to the offense and there will be a fair amount of drive and dishes with Pierce and Paul and ISO's with Pierce.  Any time you roll out 3 MVP's in your starting unit you have a lot of talent.  Defensively I fully expect to play a power in your face style.  James is the best defensive SF in history.  I will put him on the best 2/3 from the other team.  Pierce was also a very strong defender in the year I chose and more then capable of matching up with the other wing.  Paul and Malone were also superb defenders.  I will hide McAdoo on that end as best as I can because he was merely an average defender (his scoring and rebounding dictate he must be on the floor though - there is a reason he was the MVP).

My second unit features perhaps the best combination defensive forward in history in Jones, a superb all around guard in Goodrich (he led the Lakers in scoring besting both Wilt and West on the title season I've chosen), two championship teammates in Greer and Cunningham (I didn't take his championship season) and the very underrated Daugherty who can more then hold his own against the centers he will face.  On the deep bench is the most prolific stealer in NBA history and defensive player of the year Alvin Robertson, the second best rebounder by rebound rate (which didn't exist in the 60's) in this game Kevin Love, and one of the most efficient and deadly scorers on any team Kiki Vandeweghe.

In otherwords the bench has what every teams need, deadly scorers, lock down defenders, elite rebounders, and solid all around players that can all play with the starters if the game situation requires it.

I have entered my 12 man team into whatifsports and can simulate games against other teams (though you can only keep 3 at a time).  I am more then happy to simulate games and in fact will do that to show the clear superiority of my team.

Adrian Dantley   82-83   SF/SG     6-5  208.580  .000.847    6.4  4.8 30.7

The Bulls will have four regular starters in:

Bill Walton
Willis Reed
Jerry West
Magic Johnson

and all these players would see upwards of 35 minutes per game on average.

The staring small forward position would remain fluid depending on the team we are playing. For instance, when playing against Lebron or Bird, Dennis Rodman would start and see most of the minutes to mirror those players because the offense for those teams will more than likely flow through those players. Teams with smaller SFs would probably see Dave Debusschere starting and playing minutes with Durant seeing major backup minutes. Teams with exceptional strong SF defenders would probably see Durant or Dantley starting to make them work extra hard.

The bench minutes will be mostly divided between the small forwards being used that day(lots of Rodman, Durant and Debusschere) Dennis Johnson, Pau Gasol, and Marcus Camby with Pete Maravich, Drazen Petrovic, and Adrian Dantley see spot minutes and starts to rest the starters or used in situational come from behind times.

Awards won by this team are too many to list but basically if there was an award to be won or a statistical category to lead, chances are someone on this team, much like every team in this draft, has won that award or led that category for the year.

One thing that I think is important to mention is that 7 players in the main rotation are multiple time World Champions and Jerry West a one-time World Champ who happened to be in his prime during the Celtics dynasty of the 60's.

Robert Horry   94-95   F     6-9  220.447  .379.761    5.2  3.4 10.2 1.2 1.5

A few notes:

Once they started measuring blocks and steals, Cowens averaged over one in each for the following four years. Is everyone cool with me just assuming that's the level he was producing at in his MVP year?

As for Horry's year, it was his most productive and as #3 on this video shows, he was already Big Shot Rob:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHkArsWPZbg

Rotations:

C: Hakeem (40)/ Cowens ( 8 )
PF: Mo Lu (20)/ Cowens (15)/ Pippen ( 8 )/Griffin (5)
SF: Scottie Pippen (35)/ Grant Hill (13)
SG: Reggie Lewis (28)/ Reggie Miller (15)/ Penny (5)
PG: Jason Kidd (38)/ Penny (10)

My only problem with assigning minutes is that my team is so versatile that I'm not sold that these minutes would be the same from game to game. For example, against the team that has O, Clyde, Dr.J, Elvin and the Chief, I don't thinK Mo Lu would see much time on the floor and I'd probably start a line up of Kidd/Reggie Lewis/Hill/Scottie/ Hakeem to match the tempo and clamp down in the open court.

SG: Richmond (36), McGrady (12)
SF: Barry (36), McGrady (12)
PF: McHale (36), Sikma (12)
C: Chamberlain (40), Lanier (8)

We plan an inside-outside offensive approach centered around Wilt with McHale as option B. If you double either, the remaining player simply kills you in the low post or passes out to our shooters like Barry and Richmond. Thomas will be more a a playmaker but also provides outside shooting and a guy who can get to the rim. T-Mac is our 6th man and provides not only offense but an all around game. We plan to use Sikma as a stretch 4 to give our team a different look. Inside whether its Wilt, Lanier, McHale, Sikma or Haywood we have tough interior D.

Basically I feel this team has an excellent combination of inside and outside scoring and defense. Yes, we feel underrated! Hey, we're not the Miami Heat who had a big special.

George Yardley   59-60   SF/SG     6-5  190.453  N/A.816    7.9  1.7 20.2

A couple of things.  Some of the decisions on years were based on playoff #'s, as they often prove the ultimate measure of greatness.  I should probably post them too, but I'm not sure I'll have time at this point.  Just for instance Bernard King averaged 34.8 PPG in 83-84 - he also shot 57.4% from the field with 6 rebs & 3 ast a game.  Bird's 86 playoffs were ridiculous. Sam Jones led the Celts with 28.6 PPG in the 64-65 championship run.

Anyhow...here's what I went with for a lineup:

Starters:

PF - Chris Webber
SF - Larry Bird
C - David Robinson
PG - Tiny Archibald
SG - Sidney Moncrief

2nd Unit
PF - Nate Thurmond
SG - Sam Jones/Andrew Toney/Paul Westphaul
PG - Brandon Roy
C-   Yao Ming
SF - Bernard King/George Yardley

Moving Webber to the starting lineup and Thurmond to the bench gives me a strong defensive presence off the bench and takes some pressure of Yao.  Not sure how I feel aboyt Moncrief vs Sam in the starting lineup but my gut is telling me Sam would be needed more with the 2nd unit. The idea of Bird and Webber feeding off each other in the frontcourt is very enticing.  The passing would be tremendous.

Why you should like Dallas:
Our starters are on par with most of the league.  I am not sure that you could say that any team is significantly better or worse than my team based on starters; the talent pool was too large for that kind of disparity in this league.  Where I believe my team separates itself from the rest of the league is my bench.  I have players that have succeeded coming off the bench for a great deal of their career that other teams do not.   I have 3 6th men of the year playing significant roles for my team as well as 3 lock down defenders that can shut down a player on the opposing team that happens to be going off at the time

Here is my writeup to go along with my profile:

For my lineup, my starting 5 is set. I love the elite defenders I have at 4 starting positions, as well as the Championship leadership of Kareem, Worthy and Dumars in that lineup. I switched back and forth between 07-08 KG and the 03-04 version because of the championship factor, but I ended up staying with 03-04 KG because he offered so much versatility back then on defense and offense.

I believe that I have addressed the one common issue with my team, which was deep shooting, with the additions of Eddie Jones and Michael Cooper off the bench. I love Coop especially because not only could he shoot from deep at a great clip (385), but for the year I chose for him he was Defensive Player of the Year(86-87). He was known to frustrate Larry.

Additionally, with my starting unit I have Dumars who was credited publicly by Jordan as a player who played him very well defensively. I also love Dumars’ Championship pedigree, his toughness, leadership, and skillset-wise he is a starter who spreads the floor quite well with his 3pt% (483) during regular season. One concern of mine was his 3pt% in the playoffs for that particular year, which was bad – at 083%. However, this shortcoming obviously did not keep him from winning NBA Finals MVP that year, and we have other shooters we can bring in to compensate for this.

Eddie Jones and Michael Cooper are both versatile in that they can play the SG or SF, and Coop is an Elite defenders and Eddie a very good one as well. Both shoot extremely well from deep (Eddie 417% and Coop 486%).
Additionally, for the year I picked Coop he won Defensive Player of the Year. Eddie Jones was an NBA 2nd Team Defensive award.

Ben Wallace could start in some games, depending on matchups. He was a Defensive player of the Year selection for the year I chose, and he was an elite rebounder as well. His strength, toughness and quiet leadership are essential for this team in that he can help tremendously without needing the ball in his hands.
The games where Ben starts would be at PF, with KG sliding to SF and Kareem holding down Center. This is my Defensive Frontcourt. I could supplement this lineup further with Michael Cooper or Eddie Jones starting at SG and GP maintaining PG duties. This particular lineup would allow me to spread the floor well and have a tough defensive backcourt and frontcourt to overcome.

I could create additional matchup problems with Elton Brand and Ralph Sampson. Elton gives me perhaps my best lowpost offensive player in that he has many moves down low and has the toughness, skill and ability to finish around the rim. He is also a very good defender with over 2 blocks per game.

Ralph Sampson brings me a unique skillset in that he is 7’4” and can play the “Point-Forward” role for us. For the year I chose (85-86) he was a very good defender, passer, scorer, and rebounder. His minutes in the game will create matchup problems.

I presented a potential lineup of KG at SF, Sampson at PF and Kareem at Center and one panelist (IP, I think) stated that such a lineup wouldn’t work. I disagree, in that Ralph played PF alongside a post-dependent Center in real life (Hakeem) and KG often played SF in Sota. KG and Kareem’s teamwork and skillsets would mesh well with Sampson’s in this format (in limited minutes) and allow for a very difficult to defeat defensive frontcourt presence – one that would be very quick, athletic, talented, smart and long.

For my PG spot, Gary Payton impressed me – because even though his team lost to CHI, he elevated his game, indeed, in the playoffs. For the year I chose (95-96), he shot 485% overall and a whopping 410% from three – in the playoffs. His selection as Defensive Player of the Year only helps to solidify my first line of Defense here. GP helps to offset Dumars’ shortcomings from deep – in that GP shot well that year. Dumars brings a Championship mentality to that team along with Worthy in the starting lineup.

I was happy that Rajon Rondo fell to me in the latter rounds. He is yet another player that raised his level of play in the playoffs for the year I chose (09-10). He was instrumental in just about every series that year – especially vs CLE (and Lebron), ORL (and Dwight), and LA, even though the team lost. His averages approached Triple-Double levels for that entire playoff run that year. Off the bench, he (and Coop or Eddie Jones), would create defensive nightmares for any opponent. Rajon is a Pass-First PG who doesn't need the ball to be effective and he would be like a kid in a candy store in this Draft setting.

In my starting lineup, I envision the following scoring options:
1. Kareem
2. KG
3. GP
4. Worthy
5. Dumars

I have instant offense off the bench with Coop, Eddie, JO, Elton, Ralph. Elite and dependable Big Man Defense would come from Ben Wallace. Ralph Sampson provides offense, good defense and rebounding as well as athleticism off the bench as well. Sampson’s size and skillset would create matchup problems on many nights – just ask the Lakers about 85-86. Place Kareem in the spot of Hakeem in that setting and it still works.

Summary

** These (minutes) numbers are obviously very fluid, depending on what line-ups we face ... I have some specialty groups I like in the rare cases where we need size over speed, (as we are a fast-break team), and in such instances would move Dirk to SF, Dwight to PF, and Artis/Dolph at the Center spot, (which would make for a formiddable paint area).

My team is not an elite team defensively, although we do have some size when needed and some rebounders, (and of course, MJ). This is a fast-paced team and a shooting team, and with the line-up I have, there is really no team that can compare when it comes to running the fast-break or shooting prowess.

Defense is a very important focus of our game, as we rely on speed in that department as well, and can get back down the floor quickly without ever being put "on our heels", so-to-speak. But when it comes to facing teams that are elite defensively, it really doesn't bother us too much.

When a team is as fast and as dominant at shooting the ball as ours is, opposing defenses just do not have the time to get into their sets. We keep our opponents on their heels, keep them moving and confused while trying to fight around our pick-and-rolls, and keep the paint fluid with our fast-attack and ability to go in-and-out with guys like Dirk and 'Nique.

We obviously have some big egos on our team, but Coach Popovich is the perfect guy to make that a non-issue ... he is highly respected among all our players, and has made the "Team-First" approach to winning our number one priority. He has the unique ability to walk that fine line between "friend" and coach, and therefor keeps the atmosphere loose and light, but the focus tight and serious.

As I initimated, there are teams in the league who have much stronger defenses, but when an opponent like us gives those teams no time to set up those defenses, they really become almost moot. We are just simply too fast getting down the court, and have run our offense or gotten the ball into the hoop, (at the rim or behind the arc, with some very strong 3-pt shooters), before our opponents can get back to cover or disrupt our plays.

Celtic great Tommy Heinsohn is and always has been a strong proponent of the fast-break, and it's just for the reasons I've stated here. All defenses, even the strongest and most elite, need time to get into their defensive sets, and we just simply do not allow our opponents the time to do so. When you're as fast and as prolific as we are, opposing defenses become a small consideration.**

A quick sumpin' - sumpin' on my team:

Here's what I request of the panelists, in what I believe to be an impossible draft to judge - Please consider playing-style with my team. I've made a team that is going to force their style of play on the opponents. A fast, break neck speed, created by a team of athletic freaks. Assuming Russell's defensive statistics, my starting 2-5 all average above 1.2 blocks per game and 1.2 steals per game.

I think in almost any match up, the advantages our team have in speed and athleticism outweighs any kind of disadvantage we might have
