I would have loved to see such a series. the big three 3 years younger versus the big three. It would have been incredible. Who do you think would have won?

I go by this logic
This season the Celtics and the Heat were basically on an even level (with all of their head to heads being close games, and the Heat winning overall 5-4)

The Celtics in 2008 had the Big 3 three years younger, a better bench, more healthy bigs. Its no contest, Celtics of 2008 would hands down win against this years Heat

Not even close ... Celts would have blown them away, like they blew the big, bad Lakers away, despite LeBron travelling constantly and D-Wade getting to the line when nobody touches him, (oh, wait, I forgot ... the officials in the NBA don't have any biases). :P

I'm more concerned about who wins the 2011 finals, the Miami Heat or the Dallas Mavericks.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

2007-2008 Celtics. They were one of the best teams in league history that year, this Heat team is about average for a Finals team (which is still very good of course)

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Ahahahahahahahaha....Celtics in 5, maybe 6. Then again, we didn't have star caliber Rondo. But we did have kinda star-ish caliber Truth, Ray, and KG.
I like Marcus Smart

The 2008 Celtics were better than this year's Heat on offense, defense, and in just about every aspect of the game, other than getting foul calls.  Heat in 7  ::)
"When I was a rookie, [Bird] and Kevin McHale were arguing.  So I asked Kevin McHale what they were arguing about.  And he says, 'we're just trying to figure out who you're going to guard.'  I said, 'what you mean?' and he said, 'oh, you're dead meat, rook.'" - Charles Barkley

As a point of reference, the Heat's SRS this year was 6.76. About the same as the Detroit Pistons in 2007-2008. The Celtics SRS in 2007-2008 was 9.31.

Even the 08-09 C's had a higher SRS, though it was closer because it tanked after KG went down  :'(.

(SRS is basically strength of schedule adjusted point differential)

Okay, just to play devil's advocate for a minute, LeBron took us to 7 games by himself in the 2008 playoffs. That was the version of LeBron James without a jumpshot too...

If LeBron (with jumpshooting ability)  had Wade and Bosh to fall back on in game 7 of this speculated hypothetical series, I am not quite as optimistic as the rest of you that we would be able to absolutely crush them.

I think the Celtic's win and yes of course I am biased.

Everybody excused these Heat for a rather pedestrian start saying it would take some time for them to mesh. That Celtic's team meshed from day one and pretty much steam rolled the league all season and then beat the favored Laker's pretty handily in the Finals.  That particular Celtic's team would not be denied IMO.

Also their offense was a thing of beauty to watch and very difficult to defend because they shared the ball so well.  The defense was historically dominant.

Unless they met in the first round where the C's struggled to find their playoff groove I don't see the Heat matching those Celtic's.

2008 Celtics 4 games to 1 -

Miami's lack of offense would have cost them dearly against Buster Posey's Ubuntu Defense.... I assume of course Eddie House works for us instead of them. Mario Chalmers is still with the J-Hawks  ;)
The beatings will continue until morale improves
