Not if he had a good relationship with the two of them, he was a celtic for a year and Miami is only a temporary rivalry. Heck, say Robert Horry was still on the Lakers and they were playing for the title and Shaq told him to go beat Miami, I wouldn't be upset at all.

He didnt make these comments until after he officially announced his retirement, i have no problem with him saying this when there are only two teams left in the championship. Everybody has to be rooting for someone right?

The only way I could conceivably take issue with this is if Shaq had retired in April and told the Heat to beat the Celtics in the playoffs.

In this case, I don't care at all. Shaq developed a good repoire with his former teammates, so he wished them luck. I don't even see this as him rooting for the Heat, specifically, but rather him rooting for his friends, who just happen to be on the Heat.

I disagree whole-heartedly. It is unfortunate what happened this past season with his injury that prevented him from really helping us out the way everyone (including him) had hoped. But he has said in interviews that the Celtic organization and Doc Rivers specifically are among the best he's ever worked with, and there was nothing he wanted more than to give us a ring this past season. Hell, remember back when he was healthy and he helped us go on a 14 game winning streak?

Shaq will always be a Celtic in my book, Lakers 3-peat aside. His heart was in the right place, and that's what Ubuntu is all about.

spot on, it totally agree with you.

one of my favorite players no matter where he played. the fact that he tried playing while limping around the court tells me his heart was in it.

No issues with the comment.  As fans (especially die-hards like me), we tend to hate all the other teams and players. 

But you need to understand that many of these players knew each other from an early age and may have went to school with them or been teammates at any level all the way up to pro.  The competitiveness of each individual wants their team to win all the time.  But at the same time there is a lot of mutual respect in all of sports.
