If he's over-rated than so is Rondo.  To say that anyone in Chicago would prefer Rondo over Rose is foolish.  Is Rose MVP worthy? Maybe not, but without Rose that team is not even a top 4 team in the East.  Boston, Miami, Atlanta, Orlando would all better.
do it

Come on guys...Rose's support cast and Rondo's support cast are similar right now. Maybe in the championship year Rondo...well actually Rondo was support back then.

Right now, I would say if you swap the two of them the play-style of the teams would be much different but I cannot definitively say that either club would be worse off.

Right now, Rose can score and Rondo can dish. I'd admit I'm a homer but I'll take Rondo for the future of a franchise as he'll definitely develop a jump shot (the stats show that he's improved significantly from mid-range this year) and he has a better mindset. Who knows? Rose might probably develop other things as well.

He shot 41.3 percent from mid-range this year, which is better than either of his last two seasons but worse than the 43.6 percent he shot in 2007-08.

"He has a better mindset."  What does this mean?  Is there any sort of proof for this?

Rose had a great season, a truly great season.   He deserved the MVP as much as anyone ever has.  But if I had to choose between him and Rondo, I'd choose Rondo without a moment's doubt.

Really?  What about the three top players in the state of Florida this season?

he's in his...third? year in the league.  He's nowhere near a complete player yet but he's already one of the best scorers in the league.

Him and Durant are virtually the same player at different positions at this stage in their careers

Sure seems that way.

I think he is probably over rated but he is far from alone.  With today media it seems that much of the time to the talking heads, what is in front of you right now is the greatest ever.

How many times have you heard, "LeBron is the greatest passer or  passing non-PG of all-time....please.  Some of the idiots saying it actually played against Larry Bird so they don't even believe it when they are saying it.

It's all part of the sell job.  They are no longer burdened with reporting reasonable analysis their job is to sell the product.

Derek Rose is a pretty great player surrounded by a cast that is lacking scorers so he shoots too much.  I think he would share the ball more if he could count on his supporting cast to put the ball in the hole but we wont know for sure I guess until they add a consistent scorer who shows up in the clutch(unlike Boozer).

His team exceeded expectations more so then any other elite teams this season and that many times means that team's coach will win Coach of the Year and it's franchise player with get strong consideration for the MVP.

I also believe Rondo and Rose's supporting casts are a whole lot closer then many here want to admit.  Paul Pierce is still a consistent scoring threat but we didn't see him take over stretches of games on the offensive this past season to nearly the level he has in past seasons.  Ray Allen depends almost entirely on Rondo to score his points.  KG at this point in his career is a great role player who plays great team defense.   The Center spot is a revolving door of guys who for the most part depend on Rondo for their points because they don't get offensive rebounds.

Rondo was over rated in the first half when he was a strong MVP candidate according to most in the media while putting up astronomical assist numbers and the Celtics were streaking.  Rose became over rated in the 2nd half of the season because his team was exceeding expectations and he was scoring a lot of points.

Is Rose better then Rondo right now?  Depends on what you want from your PG.  If you want a more traditional PG that gets everyone shots where they like to get them them and can pressure the ball from end line to end line then Rondo is the best in the business.  If you want a guy who can get you points in bunches and carry you on the offensive end for long stretches of games then Rose is obviously better.

When you separate the regular season from the playoffs you come up with two very different grades for Rose.He did raise his game in several areas over the summer. The regular season he became a more proficient player from three pt.land, midrange game and at the charity strike, all things that impress sports reporters, media people, all people who have anything to do with MVP voting.
We saw a 22yr.old 3rd yr.player take a big leap from yr.# 1 to yr.#3 with his game. The eyeball test says he was the best in the league this season given the lack of talent around him majority of the time.He lead a team that wasn't predicted to finish no higher than 4thplace in the east by many to being the 1st place team.

Right and let's face it.  We can pick apart every all-star in this league and claim they are over-rated.

I agree, but I find it hard to give it to someone who is clearly the 2nd banana (Wade). The Magic would be absolutely horrible without Howard and as far as 'valuable' deserved it the most. Lebron was the most outstanding player. Rose was a [slightly lesser] combination of the two, but his team finished first and in grand fashion finishing the season very strong. He was definitely the hot name when it mattered. I don't think he is [anywhere near] the best player in the NBA, but it kind of just came together for him this year and it made 'sense'.

Playing for the Celtics doesn't stop that.
