Im gonna say it,hate me or not D rose is the most overrted player today in the nba lets review the offense...run and gun can barely shoot and passes as good as tony allen lets see defense................NO DEFENSE

he's a high volume scorer...sure he can score 30points a game. but he also has to take 30shots to get them...

IMO while Rondo isnt the scorer that Rose is...hes a better passer/facilitator of the offense...if he develops a jumper IMO hes right up there with him.

Derrick Rose qualified as overrated only insofar as his selection as MVP was well beyond questionable.  That said, The faulty collective judgment of the sportswriting establishment does not make his season any less excellent.

rose has been great this year, but I cant help but think that the bulls success has more to do with Thibs than him...hes gotten this team to buy into his defensive schemes...and this has kept them in games and won them games despite Rose being their only main offensive option

Not that it matters at all but does anyone think there is a Bulls fan out there that would rather have Rondo than Rose?

I would concur to the effect that Chicago's success this season had many contributing factors: As you note, they were outstanding defensively, and both Thibodeau and their personnel are to credit for that.  Their bench was terrific, and they jumped to fourth in the league in offensive rebound rate, which was at least in part a product of the addition of Omer Asik off the bench.  They also got a huge season from Derrick Rose, who despite not being as efficient as I'd like him to be, still managed to post an above-average TS% while being one of the most high-usage players in the game on a team with significant limits in terms of supporting cast members who can create their own shots.

I'm not clear on exactly how to apportion all the credit, but I think there's plenty to go around, and Rose gets a decent-sized share albeit not "MVP-sized."

bolded was what my dad, grandfather and uncle said. They all said he can't shoot that well or at all. He takes too many shots. My dad said the way to play him was to make him a shooter and not make him go into the paint as much, make him take jumpshots which was what happened. LeBron as much as I'm not a fan of his helped shut down Rose.

Heck no and it's not only because he can't shoot for jack. They literally hate Rondo for what he did on 09 with the diry play towards Heinrich sp?. They hate the mess out of him and will never want him as a Bull. Celtics fans respect Rose more than Bulls fans respect Rondo by a long shot.

Both teams would be worse off if they swapped places.  Also, for anyone who didn't watch the regular season, Rose was a bit less selfish.  I think that Boozer disappearing in the playoffs (surprise, surprise) forced Rose to be a bit more aggressive than normal.

The kid is what? 22 years old and is the MVP of the league. He is still 4 or 5 years away from playing his best basketball. I think overrated is saying a little much.

Perhaps he shoots that much because his team has no one else that can consistently score.
