I know much has been said about these two, particularly on the bad side.  Both are injury prone, one has not played for over eight months and the other has been asked to retire by his own team rumor has it.

Well, I tell you what, the Cs are here and ready to help Portland with their problems.  Cs need a scorer off the bench and need a big fellow in the middle.  Is there any way the Cs and the Blazzers would contemplate doing business?

I'd rather roll the dice on Oden.  Roy's salary is far too large and he is in perpetual decline due to his knees.

Maybe we can S/T for Oden, and send a lot of cash in the deal for Portland to buyout Roy (Portland has already reportedly wanted to buyout Roy) with the stipulation Roy signs with us. For this to be successful though, both Oden and Roy would have to express a lot of interest to Portland to make it happen.

Oden would be a great fit IMO for present and future. Great Defense and scoring ability, with size and rebounding.

Roy would be great for us in the future. We need a scoring guard off the bench, who can make his own shot. Roy only has a couple years left so he could immediate help. We don't need him to come in and be 08 Roy, just a solid bench player who can help with offensive duties.

this is a very good point, but the fact that history show that these two players have blown their knees, i dont really want to take that chance. Oden blew his knees twice, and have he played one full season yet? Roy, well we all knew what he went through this season

Yes please, let's invest into aging and injury prone players again, that's just what Boston needs  ::)

We could make this stipulation all we wanted, but as soon as they bought out Roy he is a free agent and wouldn't be obligated to sign with us.

I also love Roy but I wouldn't give up anything of value for him due to his contract. If he were bought out then I'd give him the best we have to offer (full MLE)

Do Roy and Oden have even one healthy knee between the two of them?

One?

I mean there's four knees there, is there even one knee that is healthy?

Just wondering!!!

I love B. Roy, but never, ever do you take on a 4 year $61m+ contract that comes with a bone on bone injury. In the playoffs Roy proved he could be devastating in the clutch, and then disappear the following night. Just a byproduct of a debilitating injury.

A JO or Kristic (S/T)/+Quis (TPE) for Oden could make sense for both teams, but you can't extend Oden for more than 2 years at $6m/ until he proves himself.

Lets keep JO.   BUT , NO MORE aged and broken players .  Trade, sell, bargain, cut, whatever, but get some better younger help.

Soon .  A couple more seasons of this rerun bunch and WE will be in the Lottery picks again. worse off than Cleveland ever dreamed.

As a Blazers season ticket holder I would strongly advise against this.
BRoy is a helluva player but he A) can't share the ball and B) has no cartilage left in his knees. He couldn't deal with it once the Blazers got a real PG who passed to the other players and he could run everything himself. He even complained in the middle of a playoff series about playing time. Not a good fit for ubuntu.

Oden, worth a flyer for a year but I would give up anything for that sack of injured bones.

Devastating might not even be strong enough of a word.  Didn't he pretty much single handily make one of the biggest comebacks ever?
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

If by "the key" you mean "the key to assembling the most injury-prone roster in NBA history," you are entirely correct.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
A couple of years ago these two were supposed to be one of the most devastating combos for years to come. It is really unfortunate for such talented players to lose it so early in their careers. Oden could still make something happen, but has obviously been disappointing so far.
