given the way the last two postseasons have gone where we ran out of fuel down the stretch (and it most notably showed on offense), i think we'd need guys off the bench that can actually "start" or play really big minutes.

i think the best trade scenario would be to pull something like a Gary Payton or Big Z trade, where a team that's rebuilding has an overpriced vet that they are just looking to unload. We trade away a young player, a nice draft pick and Ray Allen and get him back on the minimum at month's end. something like that.

of course, that would mean that the vet would probably bog down our precious salary cap at year's end as well.

Lil Rip,

Are you the same LilRip who was on the Boston.com Forums? I remember someone over there named Lil Rip before I switched to over here. More knowledgeable people over here for the most part, but no Slippery Sam.

Anyways I agree with your post. I think the Salary Cap after the lockout will make it hard for us to acquire a lot of talent. I think your proposed scenario is better assuming a guy out there exists.

On a different note I would like for us to look at Michael Redd too. He has had thee knee issues but so have guys like Antonio Mcdyess. He can shoot and is really a carbon copy of Ray for the most part. LLE for him could be a great steal.

I agree if we can get Redd cheap then it would be great! he would be a great backup for pierce or allen and altho he is older, signing him to a one year deal would be fine, just to make one last run with truth, ray ray, and KG
