Hoping For A Long Lockout

As a basketball fan there is nothing I fear more than a lockout lasting half of the season.  As a C's fan, I can't think of anything better for our aging team.  The wear and tear of 90+ games for the last few years has obviously come to a head at this year's playoffs.  I would be very interested to see how our team would do with an abbreviated season.

I can't help but think that a 41 game regular season would give our team a huge boost. 

So here is to hoping for a lockout until mid-January.

In the last topic like this someone pointed out that a long lockout would actually hurt us because of an increase in back to back games. and a lot of 4 games in 5 nights. Personally i'm hoping for no lockout. let our newcomers get a chance to learn the offense and get our rookies/bradley some extra run. . .

Yeah - all the back-to-backs are just going to force us into playing Chicago or Miami in the first round

It depends how they handle the scheduling when the season begins.  If they schedule a lot of games in a condensed time period, I think that'll work against the C's.  If they spread the games out in a typical fashion, it'll help the C's. 

I think the biggest key to next season is who's on the roster for next year.  If Danny doesn't get a legit center, rebounding/defending PF and a legit scorer off the bench, the C's are in trouble regardless of how many short or long the lockout is.

Precisely.  We would actually be better off with a short lockout.  One that would still leave a reasonable number of game (say 50) and the NBA wouldn't be tempted to make some up.  So fewer games with similar scheduling approach.

I think we actually do not need a legit scorer off the bench.  Doc just needs to manage the rotations properly.  In the regular season, give Wafer some burn with the 2nd unit.  In the playoffs if Wafer doesn't make the rotation, then whenever Rondo sits, Doc needs to have Pierce and/or KG in the game.  It sounds logical on paper and it worked this postseason when we did it.

I disagree because I think you're contradicting yourself.  Wafer would be the scorer off the bench if Doc actually played him.  I'm not against using Wafer as that scorer if Doc will actually use him.  He's not gunshy, has a good outside shot and has no problem taking it to the hoop --> exactly what we'd want in a scorer off the bench.  A second unit of Delonte, Wafer and Green should be able to score against most other second units.  Add in Krstic and there should be plenty of scoring.

Sorry but if being Celtics fan means it's a 41 game season, than I guess I'm not a Celtics fan . I can't wait for next year to start already. I find baseball to be a total bore. I like football, but that's once a week (assuming they play). I have jumped on the Bruins bandwagon, but that's only for the playoffs and because the Celtics are done.
No I want to see the Celtics play 82 games and win the championship. I don't want to want until Jan. or Feb. and I don't want to see a * next to the Celtics name when they win it.
If they are not good enough to play a full season and win, than so be it.

I kind of surprised anyone would hope for a shorten season just because they think that's the only way the Celts can win. That's like hoping LeBron or Kobe get hurt in the playoffs when the Celtics play them. Not me. To be the best you have to beat the best.

Honestly, I think I would take having no lockout over a slightly greater chance of success for the C's next year(mainly because I don't think it increases their chances that much, particularly since it would really put a crunch on offseason movement, and they need to make a couple moves).

Personally, I can't hope for a lockout, because No Basketball = Wife Controls the TV. I can't deal with those crime shows and hospital dramas she watches!

My fault.  I absolutely think we need a scorer off the bench.  I don't think Danny needs to acquire an additional scorer off the bench this offseason is what I meant.
